FBI Drafts Law to Require Websites to Grant Backdoor Access to Government Agencies

FBI Drafts Law to Require Websites to Grant Backdoor Access to Government AgenciSCG News

I’m sure you’ve heard about PRISM, the NSA’s surveillance program which enlisted the cooperation of tech giants like Google, Yahoo, Microsoft (and thereby Skype). That program involved companies voluntarily granting the U.S. government backdoor access to user communications and data. This was a scandal, and of course the companies involved were not about to reveal the technical methods used to grant that access. In the case of Microsoft, we have specific documents from the Snowden leaks which show that Microsoft helped the NSA by developing a way to break their own encryption, thereby allowing real time monitoring of Skype audio and video. If you think that’s creepy, wait till you hear what they are trying to do next.

Right now the FBI Director Robert Mueller is traveling around the country meeting with CEOs and lawyers of major tech firms in an attempt to convince them not to publicly oppose a new law that they have drafted, a law making it mandatory for all websites which have over a certain number of users to install code that would allow the U.S. government to monitor all communications.

Seriously? If you’re like me, you probably did a double take when you read that.

According to CNET, the FCC is already making active inquiries into the matter, which indicates that they are preparing to create new regulations.
“We have noticed a massive uptick in the amount of FCC CALEA inquiries and enforcement proceedings within the last year, most of which are intended to address ‘Going Dark’ issues,” says Christopher Canter, lead compliance counsel at the Marashlian and Donahue law firm, which specializes in CALEA. “This generally means that the FCC is laying the groundwork for regulatory action.”

The FBI’s legislation, is just one component of what the agency is internally referring to as the “National Electronic Surveillance Strategy.” The law has gotten the Department of “Justice” stamp of approval.

If this thing passes it’s going to create a whole new niche market: offshore tech.

  1. Its more like what they want to do next.and next ,and next, till they have total control over everything that we do. How anyone cannot see what these tyrants are doing and how they have absolutely no intention of stopping till this country is under total rule by a very few is insane. Your government is totally out of control and it IS coming for you! Eloquent words and wishing and hoping ,or the voting booths or the courts are never going to stop this and thinking that your local government is on the side of the people anymore is equally insane.

    1. Yep, I keep saying the same thing all the time, cracker. But for some reason, the sheeple like to live in denial. I don’t get it, either. We just live in an insane world.

  2. It’s a new infringement every week, and it’s not going to stop until WE THE PEOPLE stop it, or until everyone who doesn’t worship Obama is safely tucked away behind bars.

I don’t like the latter option, and no one else will either, so people better be ready for action.

  3. well that explains why i’m always flippin off and sayin eff you to my computer daily.
their monitoring equipment is thousands of feet up in the sky while agents here on land sit in front of large screens monitoring everything we do and say so when crime happens they know about it. of course its not being used to solve crimes like when cameras were put in under that pretext. another lie.
i’m here to tell all of you if a family member or friend meets with an unexpected death don’t always believe the official version. investigate it yourself or bring someone in immediately after it happens and watch which agency takes over the entire investigation because they have the most funding. you thought injustice was rampant before, its far worse than you can even imagine now. the reason I can say this is 6 days ago my sister was murdered made to look like an accident and because of who we are and were just dumb poor Indians we wouldn’t figure it out and even if by some small chance we did they know we can’t do anything about it anyways. and they’re right.
if a year goes by and I haven’t posted a comment than it means i’m no longer here either.
stay safe out there and try not to put yourselves in harms way like riding a bike at night in the bike lane.

    1. Hey brother, your sister wouldn’t want it to end that way. When I go it’ll be fighting the good fight. You are certainly welcome to hang around and give us a hand Mel. Peace brother.

    2. Millard, my name isnt mel and im actually a sister. And no i dont plan on committing suicide. As you know digger “they” dont like to be exposed. I use to think you were a bit harsh but not anymore.

  4. “a law making it mandatory for all websites which have over a certain number of users to install code that would allow the U.S. government to monitor all communications.”

Only “for all websites which have a certain number of users”?

    Bullshit! That’s how it starts.

Next year, it will be for ALL websites, regardless of the number of users. Everyone knows it’s true because the Communists just can’t help themselves. It’s a control thing. Anyways, it’s not like they don’t already have backdoors in everything. They are just wanting to make it public and legal (even though it is clearly unconstitutional and therefore illegal, regardless of whatever or however they say or do it) like everything else.
