It’s not always Tequila’s fault … or is it?
Four men tried to ring in the New Year with more than $500,000 worth of Patron Tequila in Tampa, Fla. — but deputies caught them as they were stealing the heavy load.
A Tequila-hauling truck driver realized his trailer wasn’t attached when he stopped to eat a late dinner Sunday at a Tampa truck stop, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Deputies found the semi-trailer in an intersection around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday — with four men moving cases of tequila to another truck, which was registered to them.
Vidal Estrada, 66, Lemuel Escobar, 35, Humberto Ramirez, 37, and Alberto Obaya, 47, had already transferred 20 cases from the truck before they were caught, authorities said.
Three of the men were arrested at the scene, but Escobar allegedly tried to flee and was arrested nearby.
All of the men were hit with charges of grand theft, resisting officer without violence, and burglary of an unoccupied convenience. One of them was charged with possession of controlled substance.
There were about 966 cases of tequila, worth approximately $507,105, in the fully loaded 53-foot trailer.
“All of the men were hit with charges of grand theft, resisting officer without violence, and burglary of an unoccupied convenience. ”
AND ALL WERE DRUNK?
YOU BET!
WHAT THE HELL IS “resisting officer without violence”?
DID HE SCREAM, “I’M RESISTIN!!!’?
Patron is smooth,,,,,these thieves…. not so much.
