Gunman who shot Albuquerque police officer multiple times in traffic stop captured as officer fights for his life: police

New York Daily News – by Tobias Salinger

A gunman who shot an Albuquerque, N.M., police officer multiple times in a traffic stop Wednesday night has been arrested, police said.

Police believe the man opened fire on the officer around 7:45 p.m. after a struggle near a Walgreen’s at Central Ave. and Eubank Blvd. in the southeastern section of the city, Albuquerque Police Chief Gorden Eden said at a news conference late Wednesday.

Eden declined to identify the officer by name until his whole family could be notified but said the officer was an eight-year veteran of his department.

The cop was critically injured and was already undergoing his second surgery at University of New Mexico Hospital as Eden spoke to the media, the Albuquerque Journal reported.

Officials in the Albuquerque Police Department announced they had arrested the shooter after midnight local time. The officials identified the suspect as Davon Lymon, a 34-year-old man with an “extensive violent crime history” and a prior murder charge in 2001.

The officer had used his stun gun during the altercation with the gunman and was wearing a body camera, Eden said. Investigators will examine the body cam footage as they probe the shooting.

More than 100 officers had fanned out to search for the gunman late Wednesday. Deputies from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department and officers from the New Mexico State Police aided the manhunt, Eden said.

The suspect had fled on foot from the scene of the shooting, he noted. Officers caught up with him hours later in a nearby neighborhood, KRQE-TV reported.

Eden had cautioned area residents not to go outside during the hunt for the suspect and asked for the city to pray for the officer’s well-being.

“As I told the family as they arrived here tonight, we are in the best place where a person can be in this officer’s condition,” Eden said of the hospital. “They are working diligently to save this officer’s life.”

Mayor Richard Berry, who noted prior problems with repeat offenders such as Lymon, also spoke about the killing of 4-year-old Lilly Garcia in a road-rage shooting on Tuesday at the news conference. He and Eden announced that a different man had confessed to the roadside murder.

“We grieve together, we fight crime together, we come together during times of crisis and when things are good,” Berry said. “So let’s as a community hang together during these difficult times. Keep our officer in your thoughts and prayers.”

  1. We need to know more. Was the cop on a call or just randomly harassing anybody he saw fit to? Was their a victim before the cop became one? Was their a government drill going on at the same time at the same place? Lets not forget ABQ is the department that shoots each other. Would it not be prudent to shoot first if you are needlessly being harassed or suspect yourself of being set up for some kind of mass shooting or hoax or whatever by these hoaxing communist idiots? You don’t want me on a Jury…. unless it’s your trial. Criminals vs Criminals is how I see it, who’s right? This hoaxer or this hoaxer? This murderer or this petty thief? This communist traitor or this free traveler? So confusing.

  2. Too bad it was only one Albuquerque pig – from one of the most psychopathic pig forces in the country..

  3. Albuquerque pigs are the record holders for murdering innocent people, so they should expect to get shot in pre-self-defense now, and the more of them that are killed, the better off we’ll all be.

Hopefully this is the beginning of a new trend. If you thought a pig was about to kill you for no reason, wouldn’t you shoot first?

It’s too bad the guy was caught.

  4. We must still question not only who the perp is? But, Is he a jew? Is he mind controlled by or on Big Pharma drugs? Who are his parents and what are their jobs, names, political connections etc. We well understand the ‘game’ that is and has been being played for some time now. Think, “The Hunger Games!” That was run by a Media Corporation. Just because the PTB run their criminal enterprises does not and can not eliminate the well established guidelines/rules established to get to the truth of all controversies/incidents. ie. The Rules of Evidence. But, these Pirates have no allegiance to anyone but themselves. They truly are not constrained by any laws, rules, alliances, oaths, nor pledges. It is a house divided. Though it may not appear so since they lie etc. for one another, some of these type of people are relatively soulless and selfish and remorseless. In this sense they are serpents who will eat their own.

    1. I like hope. All you have to do is think it and it’s done. I like thinking. It comes naturally to me. So, all you assholes out there who “don’t wanna think about it”, stop thinking about it, go home, find a butcher’s knife, and cut your nads off, because you certainly have no use for them. As for the rest of you ball-less Nancy Boys, just stay out of my sight. You’ll just hang at the end of the day anyway.

  5. Keep our officer in your prayers…
    Get the fk outta here…
    How about….
Keep these officers in our sights….
    They’re tier one level oppressors.
This asshole wouldn’t have given a second thought to beat you down in front of your wife and children in a parking lot.
    And then steal your sht…
    Fkm…
    Another asshole off the beat…
I got a prayer for him.
May GOD the creator have mercy on your soul.
For being a left brain order follower.
Not knowing how much pain you inflicted on us following orders.
    To protect and serve…serve who?
    Definately not us.
