Rounds of heavy rain left Houston streets flooded, making holiday travel difficult.
Numerous streets became impassable including Interstate 10 in both directions at Washington Avenue and Westcott, KTRK reports. The roadway reopened eastbound lanes by Wednesday evening.
High water also blocked lanes of Highway 288 northbound at Southmore Boulevard, the West Loop northbound at Westpark Drive and Highway 288 northbound at 610 South Loop, among others.

The heavy rainfall stranded drivers. Firefighters reportedly performed a high water rescue on Interstate 10. The city was also forced to cancel the July Fourth Freedom Over Texas festival.
A large sinkhole opened up in the Westchase area, damaging several cars, ABC 13 reports.
