Palestinian protesters – some of which were dressed as Father Christmas – have clashed with the Israeli army near Bethlehem’s checkpoint
Days before Christmas celebrations get underway in the West Bank – the city referred to as the birthplace of Jesus – dozens of demonstrators gathered at Bethlehem’s checkpoint to protest against the separation wall.
An Israeli army spokesman said that around 80 protesters hurled rocks at them. The footage shows security forces firing tear gas at the protesters.
Construction of the 8 metre high concrete wall began in 2002 by Israel and Palestinians say it cuts them off from their neighbours and holy places.
