Japanese tsunami debris towed to Newport for eventual disposal

Oregon Live – by Kelly House

The chunk of a boat that traveled from Japan before landing on the Oregon coast this week has been towed to a Newport marina.

Several yellowtail jack fish found inside the boat will be removed today, and kept at the Oregon Coast Aquarium. The fish is native to the West Pacific.

This is the second reporting of non-native fish showing up in Northwest waters on tsunami debris, far from their typical habitat. In February, a Port Orford fishermancaught an Asian striped knifejaw in his crab pot.

Once the fish are removed from the boat remnant, the debris will be sent to a landfill.

  1. WOW! A part from Fukushima found on the West coast of Oregon. Hmm…now I wonder why fish are dying and radiation levels are surging….Hmm….But I’m sure the “professional” scientists would already know about this, right? 🙄

Oh wait! Nothing to see here. I’ll go back to my stupidtube. Too much thinking. The MSM scientists already told me it is all safe, so who am I to argue with “professionals” like them, right? I mean, they would never lie to us about that stuff. Especially since they have degrees and brains and knowledge, right? 🙄

    God help us all!
