  1. Nothing like a controlled test, try putting sand down the barrel,up the mag port and in the open chamber-shake out and shoot.Just another exspensive club.I worked as a range officer, gunsmith and was an PMI at Parris Island and at one time or another have done what you just did with a wide variety of tests like yours and beyond.Anything with a rotating locking bolt is going to fail and thats all there is to it,gas power piston is better but it still can not filter crap in the breech.Bottom line dirt will fail any weapon but loose actions are far more forgiving and can actually cycle and push sand/dirt thru the gaps.I’ve done this with colored test sand to see how it travels thru the system.Give that a go then see what the real time experiments show you.

  2. a little unrealistic though.

when izmash test AK variants, they put them in a steam room, a freezer and a shower room to check for hot, cold and wet condition problems.
with firing done between each exposure.

because, if your in combat, your far more likely to be working in the rain or snow than in a sandpit.

and temperature extremes are a bitch because different metals expand and contract at different rates.
