Knife Regulation Arrives: This Is The US Government, Hard At Work

Zero Hedge – by Tyler Durden

When it comes to the contents of the TPP, the most important law of Obama’s second term, merely leaking its contents to the press can have result in imprisonment or treason charges, which, considering recent revelations that a substantial portion of the bill was drafted by and for the express benefit of pharmaceutical companies, was to be expected:  when the US population learns that their elected legislators not only don’t read the laws they “pass”, but are merely bribed figureheads that don’t even write them, the resultant collapse of the “democratic” process would be unpleasant.

And yet, other laws such as S.1315, are perfectly transparent and open. So, with nobody in Congress drafting the TPP (and apparently not even able to pass it, despite corporate backers’ demands), here is a vivid example of the US government, hard at work.

presenting: S. 1315, Knife Owners’ Protection Act of 2015

S. 1315 would allow people to possess knives in states where they are illegal if the person is travelling to and from states where the knife is legal, if the knife is secured, or if the knife is a safety blade designed for cutting seatbelts. Based on information provided by the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission, CBO estimates that implementing S. 1315 would have no effect on the federal budget. Because enacting S. 1315 would not affect direct spending or revenues, pay-as-you-go procedures do not apply.

S. 1315 would impose an intergovernmental mandate as defined in the Unfunded Mandates Reform Act (UMRA) by preempting some state and local laws related to possessing and transporting knives. Laws regulating knives vary from state to state. The costs for state and local governments to comply with that mandate would include the cost to change protocols and train law enforcement officers. CBO estimates the total costs for state and local governments would be small and would not exceed the threshold established in UMRA ($77 million in 2015, adjusted annually for inflation).

Yes, it would cost US taxpayers $77 million to “protect” knife owners, and yes if you own a knife, you too may be considered a threat.

  1. It wasn’t too long ago when the term “knife control” was only a joke made to mock the endless attempts at gun control.

They’re not going to stop until they have complete control of every aspect of your life.

    Future felonies:
    1. Knife too sharp — 10 years
    2. Wife too pretty — 20 years.
    3. Too much time in the shower — 5 years

    1. “too much time in the shower” 😆 Nevermind, I don’t even want to speculate. Well, I just speculated all over myself, dammit!

  2. “when the U.S. population learns that their elected legislators not only don’t read the laws they “pass”, but are merely bribed figureheads that don’t even write them………..” What, what are we going to do? Not a F’N thing IF WE DON’T GET OFF OUR DEAD A$$E$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone seems to be waiting for someone else to “clean house”. What, are we gonna just sit back and wait for the SWAT teams to forcibly disarm us? F-that! Here’s the gig, Reader’s Digest version, they want us dead, they need to be killed, let’s get-R-done, and we’ll all be home for Christmas.

    1. If i had it my way we’d be done by Independence day
give it a new meaning , or at least renew the old meaning

  3. The EU has had knife control for years now.
The worst knife are the black ones/assault knife.
They had a guy go after someone here last week with a knife.
The news reported it was a (military style assault knife)
Looked like a steak knife to me.
But the news said military style assault knife.

  4. Still legal to own/make tannerite, that said,a little home cooking can come up with much more.As guns and now knives seem to be the buzzwords big box stores and 100 bucks can really, well, cause a rukus.

  5. Well, what can you do. Do they have you by the balls or are you still thinking $h^t should be different? Well, obviously, Sh^t should be different. Whose gonna “hike up their skirt”? Are there any men left to get the job done or has the chemical and sociological castration been that successful?

  6. What am I going to do,what I am doing.Preparing to best of ability but to use the phrase”Going Galt”as much as possible,i.e.working under table/bartering/dealing with others with same mind set/trying not to feed the beast/growing more of own food/trying and using alt energy where possible, planning on my demise(hopefully taking a few to rock in hell with me) when they come to steal my guns/land /food or neighbors, doing about what I reasonably can while still staying alive. That said,in last year have had 7 friends and me dad die,so my patience is kinda thin and with no wife/kid,not a hell of a lot to lose.

    1. I’m unhappy to report that I’m pretty much in the same boat James. Oh yea, I’ll do whatever I can and then some but, at the same time, I got kids that don’t “get it”. It’s frustrating holding your thumb in the dike (not dyke) and waiting for anyone to notice that there may be a slight problem. Narry a worry, not a care in the world, peaches and cream, hunky-dory! If you can’t get through the stubborn heads of your own children, how you gonna move beyond that?

  7. Millard, that tis the problem,we all have different lines that will set us off,in your case, your family. That said,as you have a family makes it tough to act as there are consequences that go beyond just you.I have found that getting folks to accept natural/man made disaster can happen and should be ready for it WHILE still enjoying life is tough, the mental barrier once you get through though can then get folks ready as they can given their situation. As for your kids don’t know whether you are dealing with adults or still kids, either way,I never give up on folks though banging head into wall at times have got some folks to see the poss. and ready themselves for it.I assume your kids whether adult or just kids and either way a pest you love em,so,prep what you can for em.In the end we don’t take care of each other to best of ability, what the hell is the point in surviving(well, except the fun of telling others,”See,I told you!),good luck to us all in our endevors and will use my old phrase”Live for today, prepare for tommorrow”.

    1. James, thanks for the input. My children have all flown the coop and are mid-twenties pushing 30 and my son is 33 and a highbuck “twister of words” in Green Bush ,WI so, I got my work cut out for me. I took my daughter and granddaughter fishin’ yesterday and I did muse around the issues to gauge a response. I’ll never give up trying to “get through” but I got a mountain in front of me to overcome.

        1. Thanks brother, I know, it’s difficult to have a significant input into even your own children’s lives. I do what I can. I do “throw it out there” and then watch, as they ponder the dilemma until they move on to more important issues such as whose ahead in the latest “Biggest Loser” episode.

  8. Millard, you’re starting to depress me!What/who the hell got ahold of your kids, biggest loser is fine if say the family got a little chubby in winter and the race among family to get lean/mean on,will assume you are talking damn tv show though.Drastic measures are called for here, will give it some thought as my first few ideas probably not the best but here is one,go the cruel route and say what/how will you provide/defend your kids if not prepped a bit, mean but the total truth in this case.A reminder of Katrina/riots ect. would be a nice example of how quickly things can go wrong(and also how quickly the best and bravest comes out in some folks who never thought/knew they had it in them).

  9. We better become reacquainted and well versed with our rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. If we don’t, our rights will be ripped away from us completely by elected/appointed leaderships (including the United Nations) who do not want to respect our U.S. Constitution or our legal rights.
