The tech conglomerate, which began as an online bookseller, is rapidly hiring for its global security center in Arizona. As the firm expands and faces new challenges, including increased antitrust scrutiny, counterfeiting issues, and pressure from worker activism, the company is staffing up with former FBI agents, with a focus on security and intelligence-gathering ability. From 2017 to 2020, the $1.6 trillion technology behemoth hired 20 former FBI agents, at least two of whom appear to be responsible for monitoring the labor-organizing activity of its workers to keep unions out. Our internet has been out since yesterday afternoon. Our Verizon mobile wi-fi, which is our back up, is running as slow as a sloth on Quaaludes.

We were able to get two posts up this morning before the wi-fi slowed down to the point that it would no longer allow us to go forward.

Putting up articles with the mobile wi-fi is impossible, we will be lucky if this notice goes up.

We are supposed to have our internet back at 4:00 this afternoon. If so we will get everything caught up then and tomorrow we will be contacting Verizon to praise their excellent service.

A powerful magnitude 7.1 earthquake, which measured a strong 6 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale — the second-highest level — jolted Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures in the Tohoku region late Saturday night.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is investigating the death of a 36-year-old doctor in Tennessee who died Feb. 8, about a month after receiving the second dose of a COVID vaccination.

According to news reports, Dr. Barton Williams died from the adult form of multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-A), a condition caused when the immune system attacks the body resulting in multi-system organ failure.
