The US Senate yesterday approved a Pentagon budget worth $738 billion, which includes the authorisation of harsh new sanctions on Syria, Iran and Russia due to war crimes the three countries committed in the Syrian conflict.
The bipartisan vote, which won 86-6 in the Republican-dominated Senate, is to ensure that the sanctions on Syrian regime officials, civilian and military leaders, and anyone associated with them who participated in atrocities are implemented within six months. Last month more than 4,000 pigs died from African swine fever (ASF) in Indonesia’s North Sumatra province. The outbreak appears to be worsening in December with as many as 30,000 pigs dead, according to the province’s food security and livestock agency, reported Reuters. BEAVERTON, Ore. (KOIN) — One person was killed and three others injured in a stabbing spree that began at the Murryhill Marketplace shopping center in Beaverton.

Stirred awake by Democratic proposals to take, register, and possibly seize their legally obtained weapons, Virginia gun owners in just 43 days have pushed 90% of the state’s counties to become gun “sanctuaries,” the latest three on Monday night.
Since the Nov. 5 election that gave Democrats control of Richmond, an “organic,” pro-gun movement has prompted the governments of 86 of Virginia’s 95 counties, as well as 15 towns and cities, to adopt some type of sanctuary language, putting Gov. Ralph Northam and other liberals on notice that their gun control plans aren’t welcome. Georgia State Senator Donzella James, (D-Atlanta), has pre-filed legislation that would ban the possession of semi-automatic firearms. The prohibitions in Senate Bill 281 would even ban common semi-automatic shotguns used for bird hunting and trap shooting. Any person convicted under this new law “shall be punished by imprisonment for a period of 5 years.” SB 281 has yet to be assigned to a committee. Jefferson, WI — In what can can only be described as ‘a new low’, a Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy has been arrested and charged with burglarizing the homes of people she knew would be attending funerals.
The former sheriff’s deputy, Janelle Gericke, 29, of Jefferson, used the obituaries to stalk those mourning their lost family members — to rob them. She was finally caught when a family returned home early from a funeral and found Gericke in their kitchen. New York took a dramatic step on Monday toward providing illegal immigrants more privacy rights than law-abiding citizens. On December 16, the state’s “Green Light” law took effect, having been signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) in June.
The law allows illegal immigrants to apply for a driver’s license, since a Social Security number is no longer needed. In addition, the law allows unverified foreign documentation to be used as proof of identity. Further, the law prevents Department of Homeland Security (DHS) law enforcement officers from obtaining public records when they run license plates on vehicles registered to illegal immigrants. All of the major parties represented in the Austrian Parliament have agreed to support a resolution condemning the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement as anti-Semitic.

RENO, Nev. — Nevada wants a federal judge to declare illegal what it calls the U.S. government’s “secret plutonium smuggling operation” and order the removal of weapons-grade material already shipped to a security site north of Las Vegas over the state’s objections.
The latest filing in a yearlong legal battle asks U.S. District Judge Miranda Du in Reno to reject the government’s motion to dismiss the state’s lawsuit. Nevada is challenging the Energy Department’s covert shipment of the highly radioactive material from South Carolina last year.
