Halloween is going to be an extra scary day for the logistics world. A total of 60,000 containers have been marked as beyond the dwell time and need to be moved out of the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach by the carriers or the penalties will start racking up. A total of 33,000 containers need to be rolled out of the Port of Los Angeles and 27,000 loaded containers for the Port of Long Beach — a whopping $2,633,940,000 value in trade.

Carriers were put on notice this week when the ports announced that, starting next Monday, a daily surcharge of $100 per container will be levied. Did this light a fire and a surge of containers being moved? No. Continue reading “Carriers must move 60K containers out of LA/LB by Halloween”

Colleges are increasingly demanding that students disclose details of their private lives in Title IX training. For example, Campus Reform reported that a “mandatory online course at the University of Southern California (USC) asks students to disclose the number of sexual encounters they have had over the past three months” as part of its “Title IX training.” This might well violate students’ rights under state law to privacy or freedom from compelled speech. For six straight years, law enforcement in Philadelphia acted as a corrupt ring of thieving thugs, shaking down more than 30,000 residents. Between 2012 and 2018, tens of thousands of innocent citizens were robbed by cops using civil asset forfeiture. According to a scathing report released by the Institute for Justice this month — which interviewed a portion of the victims — the overwhelming majority of these folks, 75%, were never convicted of a crime, and most of them were from low-income areas.  Continue reading “In Only 6 Years, 30,000 Philly Residents Were Robbed by Cops. Starting November 1, the process for obtaining a firearm license in the United Kingdom is set to get harder and more invasive. On October 20, the Tory government issued new “statutory guidance” relating to firearm licensing and announced that “No one will be given a firearms license unless the police have reviewed information from a registered doctor setting out whether or not the applicant has any relevant medical history…” Extending beyond a medical veto on firearms licenses, the UK Home Office also announced guidance encouraging law enforcement to delve into an applicant’s social media and financial history when making license determinations. There is one recurring problem with central planning: the greater the level of intervention, the worse and more widespread the unexpected adverse consequences. Just two days ago, when we reported that Beijing had imposed price controls on its coal rationing, we said that the problem with such explicit subsidies which create an artificially low price, is that they don’t address the underlying problem (too much demand, not enough supply), but instead accelerate hoarding and lead to a run on the artificially underpriced commodity, forcing spikes in another energy commodity while resulting in an even faster drain of the commodity in question, in this case coal. In essence, it’s like a giant geopolitical game of “whack a mole”.  Continue reading “China’s Energy Crisis Spreads As Gas Stations Run Out Of Diesel”

The Federalist – by Jordan Davidson

The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) refused to comply with Superintendent Scott Ziegler’s request to weaponize law enforcement against parents who wanted to voice their concerns with Loudoun County Public Schools’ behavior at school board meetings, documents obtained by Fox News indicate.

Ziegler, who denied there was any record of an assault ever occurring in an LCPS bathroom, sent an email on August 6 to the LCSO asking for a “five-person Quick Reaction Force (QRF),” multiple undercover deputies, and even a special operations team on standby for the district to utilize for school board meetings. Fox News reported that, according to Sheriff Mike Chapman, there were already security measures in places including “10 armed security personnel and magnetometers for people entering the building.” Continue reading “Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Rejected School Superintendent’s Insane Plan To Weaponize Police Against Parents”

AT&T Corporation is putting its employees through a racial reeducation program that teaches that “American racism is a uniquely white trait” and tells white people that they are “the problem,” according to a new report.

According to internal documents obtained by City Journal’s Christopher Rufo, the company implemented an initiative called the Listen Understand Act last year, which is based on the core principles of critical race theory, including intersectionality, systemic racism, white privilege and white fragility. The program peddles left-wing causes including reparations, defunding the police and transgender activism, according to Rufo.
