Police in Pinal County, Arizona, claimed that the shooting death of a suspected car thief two weeks ago came after the man had turned to reach for a weapon. But video surfaced this week from a bystander, showing that the suspect had turned his back to officers, with his hands held high in the air.
Manuel Longoria, of Mesa, led police on a 40-minute chase in Eloy, and only stopped after sheriff’s deputies crippled the stolen Toyota Corolla with a tire-popping device. Witnesses said that Longoria told police after he got out of the car, surrounded, that he wouldn’t be taken alive. Police fired Tasers and beanbags at him before he turned around.
The video shows him with his hands above his head. One second later, a sheriff’s deputy fired two shots into him, killing him.
Investigators found no weapon.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said it investigated the shooting and found the officer’s use of lethal force justified.
The shooter returned to duty a week later.

They didn’t start to shoot him until he turned to his right after he was nervously contemplating on what to do, then after several shots are fired he put up his hands and then two more shots were fired, look, I don’t like police violence and the aggressive bullying that goes on by them but this clown was in the wrong cut and dried, he should have come out with his hands up.

If I use a gun in any manner, I am responsible for seeing the target and even what lies beyond. I have not looked at this video, but I’m not stupid either. Once the hands went up, that was surrender. The two shots that followed were an execution as the guy had given up and left himself completely vulnerable.
I am an ex soldier, I have re-enacted siege situations and I have served with law enforcement , my mind has not been conditioned to accept things like this as okay, but I have seen this before. Once the ball gets rolling it is sometimes hard to stop, they dead guy could have prevented it just by putting his hands up from the get go. This is one of my favorite web sites out of four that I visit regularly, I love the articles you address but sometimes we disagree and this is one of them.
You say you are an ex-soldier. My brother in arms, JD US Marine Fighting Tyranny, tells me that during his service the rules of engagement in a war zone said that he could not fire unless fired upon.
This man was unarmed and had his hands in the air when he was executed. You think that is okay because he was running away.
Whether you continue to comments on this site is up to you, but do not expect that I will allow you to further the notion that these jack booted thugs can kill unarmed people, because they are a bunch of f#@king cowards and can now put their general safety above the lives of those they were hired to protect and serve.
If I accidentally shot someone while hunting as a result of an incorrect split second decision, I would not be held for murder but there goddamn sure would be liabilities involved. These trigger happy pigs gun down bystanders with impunity, as they dump a couple of mags at a guy a few feet away.

And you ascertained this HOW, barry? You psychic or something? I’ve seen NUMEROUS instances where the person was either unarmed, or totally incapacitated, and they were STILL murdered by these sub-human trash. He was OBVIOUSLY unarmed. So what do you base that claim on – that they wouldn’t have murdered him if he had just put his hands up “from the get go”?
I had previously given you credit for more intelligence than that.
