Police claim anyone that spends a large amount of time on Twitter, Facebook, or YouTube is a potential terrorist

In what can only be described as idiotic, the Senate Intelligence Committee wants social media websites to spy on everyone and forward terrorist comments or content to police.

FYI, A third of the world uses social media. “With nearly a third of the world using social media on a regular basis, social media reach and privacy have become hot topics.”

“Ultimately this is a higher-tech version of ‘See something, say something’ Michael Leiter a former director of the National Counterterrorism Center said.”

Social media sites such as Twitter and YouTube would be required to report videos and other content posted by suspected terrorists to federal authorities under legislation approved this past week by the Senate Intelligence Committee.

The measure, contained in the 2016 intelligence authorization, which still has to be voted on by the full Senate, is an effort to help intelligence and law enforcement officials detect threats from the Islamic State and other terrorist groups.

It would not require companies to monitor their sites if they do not already do so, said a committee aide, who requested anonymity because the bill has not yet been filed. The measure applies to “electronic communication service providers,” which includes e-mail services such as Google and Yahoo.

Google, Facebook and Twitter declined to comment on the measure, but industry officials privately called it a bad idea. “Asking Internet companies to proactively monitor people’s posts and messages would be the same thing as asking your telephone company to monitor and log all your phone calls, text messages, all your Internet browsing, all the sites you visit,” said one official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

America’s police chiefs and the U.S. Department of Justice claim, Anyone who spends a large amount of time on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube etc. is a potential terrorist!

The following excerpts were produced in 2014 by the International Association of Chiefs of Policeunder a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.

“Twitter has more than 500 million users, making it one of the most popular social media sites. Approximately 26 percent of Internet users between the ages of 18 and 29 have a Twitter account, far exceeding the next-closest demographic.”

Read between the lines, police state America is scared that they can’t control what young people [18-29 years old] see and read!

“Extremists take advantage of the fact that parents and law enforcement often are not aware of the dangers that could be present when a young person spends large amounts of time on Twitter.”

“With more than 1 billion users, Facebook is one of the most popular social networking sites. In the
United States alone, 67 percent of all Internet users have a Facebook profile, and the percentages are even higher for youth and young adults. Moreover, Facebook is one of the top three websites visited by people under the age of 18.”

Read between the lines, police state America is scared that they can’t control what young people under 18 years old see and read!

“Extremists take advantage of the fact that parents and law enforcement often are not aware of the dangers that could be present when a young person spends large amounts of time on Facebook.”

“Each month, approximately 1 billion different users visit YouTube a month and watch more than 6 billion hours of videos, making YouTube one of the most popular video-sharing sites on the Internet. Approximately 80 percent of YouTube’s traffic comes from outside the United States, and the site is localized in more than 60 countries and more than 60 languages.”

Read between the lines, police state America is scared that they can’t control what young people see and read from around the world!

“Extremists also take advantage of the fact that parents and law enforcement often are not aware of the dangers that could be present when a young person spends large amounts of time on YouTube.”

Does anyone really believe this B.S.? The government has claimed TV rots your brain and it’s recently been proven that America’s kids are being influenced by six companies that own 90% of the media. It’s about control, they want COMPLETE control of what everyone see’s and reads!

  1. that 8 year old kid that plays Utube videos all day is a terrorist? wow thanks for the heads up

  2. Twitter, Facebook and Youtube users are potential terrorists.

Well then, that narrows it down to ohh…about 90% OF THE WORLD POPULATION!!!

Are the police really this stupid or are they just using “Communist Sense”?

  3. Their motives here are obvious, and it has nothing to do with terrorism, but people should be spending more time talking to their neighbors than their internet connections anyway.

The internet is great for getting information out, but it’s the people who live near you that will be fighting by your side. Like it or not, they’re your army, and even if they seem completely brainwashed and apathetic now, keep the diplomatic ties to them open, because they’re going to have a real change of attitude after they’ve been deprived of their endless supplies of food and entertainment.

  4. I cant speak for the first 2 but youtube…

    Yup

I spend hours researching gun building/ gun repair/explosives/ balistic gel/ gear reviews, soil water managnent and how to kill commies.
I guess when you add that to veteran, gun owner, constitution reader, cop disliker, prepper, gardener, pot head, and 20year electronics tech…you get me. 1big terrorist

But i cut over 12″of hair off so now i look like the rest of the storm trooper, i call it camo.
