Tacoma Cop Block found this tracking device on a friends car. I believe that it is law enforcement based. any help identifying this object is greatly needed. as of now the item in Q, is with our lawyer as he investigates it.
If I had to venture a guess I’d say its a tracking device
bust it open! see whats inside it
not hard to find.

it’s a GPS and possible VOICE encoder with a cellular network interface to send the data “HOME”
Looks like a GPS unit used for keeping track of fleet vehicles, real popular on construction equipment because of the water proof case, magnets allow it to be connected anywhere, was his buddies car a fleet vehicle at one time??
In the comments there is a response about where and when it was found supposedly.

Where on the vehicle specifically did you find it?

Is this an item the DOD uses on Tour buses now to keep drivers from creating a second set of books?
. . .
The pics at the end, I looked up that “chip.” It is a chip made by a company called Gemalto, Model: PVS8.
Here is a link to their pdf datasheet. You are not going to like it.
