Police find large weapons cache in Waikiki raid prompted by disturbing online posts

WAIKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) – The FBI and Honolulu police are investigating after finding a large cache of loaded weapons during a raid of a Waikiki hotel room that sources say was prompted by disturbing posts on social media.

The arsenal included a high-powered rifle, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and an assortment of other weapons.

But the man staying in the room wasn’t arrested.

The FBI notified Honolulu police Thursday about a guest in room 803 at the Equus Hotel, saying he was claiming to be a federal agent in disturbing posts on social media.

The 38-year old claimed his mission was to hunt terrorist cells.

When police arrived at the Equus on Ala Moana Boulevard, sources say, they found an arsenal:

  • An AR-15, and 15 high-capacity magazines — all loaded.
  • A shotgun and two handguns.
  • A total of more than 800 rounds of ammunition, plus 18 military styles knives and body armor.

The weapons were legally registered to the man, and having them in his room was also legal.

“There was no danger,” said Mike Dailey, manager at the hotel. “The gentlemen was here. He was a guest staying here. He left and then there was an FBI and police investigation.”

Sources say that police did find psychiatric medication in the room, allowing them to seize the cache until a mental health evaluation can be completed. He was taken to a hospital for that.

“He had a room here and they’re looking at the stuff in his room,” Dailey said. “I don’t know that there are any weapons. I think you’ll have to talk to the police about that.”

The man has been living in Hawaii for about three years in a Makiki apartment, but had only been staying a the hotel for a few days.

If he is deemed mentally fit, he could get his weapons back.

  1. “…..If he is deemed mentally fit, he could get his weapons back……”

He’s never going to get his weapons back, and there was no reason for taking them in the first place. I think this is in the news just to get us used to the idea that they can seize weapons, and of course, that by doing so, they may be protecting us from another Vegas-type shooting incident.

The event is so convenient for their propaganda program, that I have to wonder if it ever actually happened.

  2. Greetings.
    Par for the course.
“The weapons were legally registered to the man,
and having them in his room was also legal.”
Law enbreakment crime gang strikes again.
    Theft, trespass, kidnapping, ransom.
Lucky to get his guns back.
Lucky to be able to buy guns through legal channels again,
with involuntary commitment and drug record.
Media continues brain softening of lower-cognition,
    what they consider, peasant masses.
The common people are supposed to be the royalty.
What was that idea……, better to let 10 guilty people go free,
than that 1 innocent be falsely imprisoned. Similar concept.
Him not being the most ideal candidate to champion weapons ownership,
but I think that I would side with freedom, unless he is a clear hazard.
Guns save lives. Gun-free zones kill.
    God save the Republic.

  3. So now all they have to do is plant a phamisutical in your home , room, or car and your fuked out of your Guns?
    A legally prescribed treatment
And poof they think you lose your rights?
    Very slippery slope

  4. Related, and a positive spin on 2A. For some reason my computer wouldn’t allow me to play this vid, but the headline alone was enough for me to want to post it:

Wow! A sick man walks up to a group of women and children and tries to rob them. A courageous woman with a gun takes care of him! If she had no gun, they’d likely have all been hurt:

  5. “Sources say that police did find psychiatric medication in the room, allowing them to seize the cache until a mental health evaluation can be completed. He was taken to a hospital for that.”

THAT’S what I was looking for.

Lock & load… this is their latest infringement, and it looks like they’re going to run with it.

  6. Haha! You call that an arsenal? Really? Such propaganda. What a joke. Most Texans have more than that in their garages.

  7. Yep I concur, pure propaganda…

And how exactly are they “Allowed” to confiscate his “Arsenal” (3 guns, wtf) without due process…did the FBI file a 4th Article charge against him..? Not that they would have such authority since they are not an individual whom has been harmed…etc

Just shows us they have zero intention of ever even pretending our Bill of rights exists anymore…

As long as we as a body of free people continue to “Allow” these tards in costumes to run around with guns claiming authority to do what they do up to and including killing people willy nilly…

This kind of stuff won’t end.

    Just vial….
