The California college has been placed on lockdown, and the reportedly wounded suspect was found in the school’s library and is now in custody. The Secret Service said that the shooting did not impact the President’s travel schedule.
Six people have been shot, at least two fatally, near Santa Monica College on Friday.
According to unconfirmed reports, the shootings began with a home invasion and attempted robbery on the 2500 block of Kansas St. Neighbors described hearing gunshots coming from a home that was engulfed in flames.

A gunman may have set this house on fire on Friday before opening fire on a bus.
A man dressed in all black and carrying a semi-automatic weapon left the home, shot a woman outside the house, and carjacked a separate vehicle and headed toward the campus.
The gunman, who witnesses said was dressed in “swat gear” and was carrying multiple rounds of ammunition, then got out of the car and began firing at passing vehicles, including a city bus.

“Everyone threw themselves on the floor, screams,” student Marta Fagerstroem told NBC4. “The bus driver, she panicked. She couldn’t drive away. She was able to, after a while.”
The college was quickly put on lockdown, and a suspect was found in the school’s library and taken into custody, the L.A. Times reported. After hearing reports of additional shots being fired after the initial suspect was arrested, police continued to search for a possible second gunman.

“We didn’t know what was happening until all the students at the entrance of the library started running down towards the bottom of the library,” Santa Monica College student Sam Luster told KABC-TV.
A young mother who was riding on the bus was grazed in the temple by one of the gunman’s bullets, but was alert and responsive as she was taken to a nearby hospital in an ambulance. Two of the victims are said to be in critical condition, and another was listed in serious condition.

Police descended upon Santa Monica College after a gunman opened fire at the campus.
Responding to a fire at the home where the incident began, fire officials said they discovered the dead body of a second victim who had been shot inside the burning house.
According to witnesses, the shootings took place just before noon, approximately half an hour after President Obama’s motorcade passed through the area. The Secret Service said the incident did not affect the President’s fundraising visit to Los Angeles, but his limousine was re-routed.

Several schools in the area were also put on lockdown, and police helicopters continued to circle the vicinty of the college more than an hour after the shootings were first reported.

So do I, and it smells to high heaven!

Did a reverse address to see the people living at 2036 Yorkshire, the site of the alleged shooting and fire. There are two names, Randa and Samir Zawahri. Name ring a bell? Don’t know too much about moving vowels around in the semitic languages, but I’m thinking Zawahiri is familiar. The gunman is said to be a white male between the ages of 25-30. It may not have been a simple “home invasion gone bad” but something more like a hit on someone that got found out (just to throw some speculation into the mix). As you know, killing terrorists is okay if the President says they are terrorists. Or it could be a vigilante. Getting all dressed up like that to do a burglary makes no sense.
