Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free
I’m following the path God laid for me
I took His hand when I heard Him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that peace at the close of day
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah, yes, these things I too will miss
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow
My life’s been full; I’ve savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your heart and share with me
God wanted me now; He set me free!

I am the author of the poem that was copy-written in 1998. I give everyone permission to print and redistribute this poem. It was written to help others deal with the death of someone close. I am happy to help uplift others whenever I can.
you are sweet Jill
Thank you, Jill. It is BEAUTIFUL. Excellent writing.
It certainly helped me. I’m sure it is a help to Elizabeth and Spike’s family and friends. I wish I’d had it to read at Randy’s Memorial. Now, with your permission, I will share it with his family and our friends. One of our close friends lost his little sister this morning. I’m going to send it to him, as well.
