The Debate – Israeli War on Gaza

“We have moved beyond the realm of humanitarian action alone. We are in the realm of accountability”: That was the statement from UNRWA, whose school in the Jabalia refugee was shelled for the second time in less than a week, killing 19 Palestinians. Both the UN and the US condemned the attack, with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon calling for those responsible to be held to account. Then came another massacre: After Israel declares a self-declared unilateral ceasefire, which Hamas dismissed, a busy market in Shujayieh was targeted, killing 17. Israel said that ceasefire did not apply to that area. Is there any doubt about what many have called a genocide in the Gaza Strip, like Iran’s leader? Will Israel be held accountable? In this edition of the debate, we’ll discuss day 23 of Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip, what diplomatic moves are being made to get closer to a truce and a permanent agreement, US-Israel relationship, Israel’s damaged image, and other countries associated in the gaza equation, like Egypt and Qatar.
