Update: Man Arrested After 5-Hour Standoff in Merlin, Oregon

KDRV 12 News

MERLIN, Ore. — A man is in custody after a standoff lasting more than five hours in Merlin.

SWAT team members are still out searching the property after arresting 70-year-old Mike Dills.

Oregon State Police troopers arrested him for possession and delivery of meth.

The SWAT team surrounded the house and were able to get Dills to come out safely.

It all started a little after noon Wednesday when troopers tried to execute a search warrant for drugs on Dills’ house.

They say he would not come outside and that’s when the standoff started.

Some businesses nearby evacuated.

Police will stay on scene for at least another hour and a half gathering evidence.

I have no love for tweakers, but I don’t see where any crime was committed.
