According to the bill newly adopted by the US Parliament, Israel will get over $600 million in military aid. The military aid package comes in as part of the National Defense Authorization Act for 2015 lobbied by pro-Israel Republicans that dominate the House.

The new law stipulates as much as $350.9 million for Israel’s Iron Dome missile system and $268.7 million for its David’s Sling and Arrow 3 missile programs.

As an amendment to the NDAA reads, the adoption of the new will clearly underscores that it’s “the policy of the United States to take all necessary steps to ensure that Israel possesses and maintains an independent capability to remove existential threats to its security”, adding the US is also to defend Israel’s vital national interests.

In 2007 the sides signed a deal under which a total of $3 billion of American taxpayers’ money flows to Israel in aid every year. Before the deal expires in 2017 Israel is striving to get an increase in aid payments, with this in mind currently pressing the Democrats now in power.

He rise in pay is to approximate $3.2 billion to $3.5 billion a year, as reported by a US official briefed on the respective US-Israel talks.

Israel, the US congressmen argued, could benefit from receiving “an appropriate number of GBU-57 30,000-pound bunker-buster bombs, known as the Massive Ordnance Penetrator, or MOP,” a weapon that would also require the appropriate bomber carriers to be delivered, such as the B-52 or the B-2. Delivery of the stealth B-2 is highly unlikely, but the B-52 is no longer cutting-edge and many of them are currently in storage.

The move has immediately caused uproar among some part of the public, saying it’s just feeding Israel’s warmongering policies. Namely, a senior Iranian legislator lashed out at the US House of Representatives over what he describes is “psychological warfare” against Tel Aviv’s enemies.

“Supplying the Zionist regime with such weapons is psychological warfare,” given the fact such supports are nothing new and considering that Israel is in possession of hundreds of atomic warheads, Kowsari told reporters on Saturday.

The general public also had their say on the subject:

“Problems with Palestinian policies” I’m confused, who has a parliament here, the military, the US aid? Oh right, Israel #dawgsdivest

Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, denounced the US for its all-out and blind support for Israel which is perceived as a permanent danger to the region.
