Whataburger announced Sunday that it will temporarily trim its breakfast hours due to a national egg shortage.
It’s a potentially earth-shattering decision for late-night and early-morning fast food lovers (read: college students) who are used to getting their breakfast food fix from 11 p.m. – 11 a.m.
Starting June 1, the fast food powerhouse of the south will only serve breakfast for four hours per day on weekdays (5 a.m. – 9 a.m.) and six hours on weekends (5 a.m. – 11 a.m.) while supplies last, according to the company’s Twitter account.
Due to a national egg shortage, Whataburger can only serve breakfast while supplies last from 5AM-9AM during the week, 5-11AM on weekends.

“We know this is no fun for anyone and hope this doesn’t last long, and we apologize the supply of eggs cannot currently meet demand,” the company said on its Facebook page.
Egg prices reached record levels on Friday after a bird flu outbreak decimated the flock, leading to the death of more than 20 million egg-laying hens over the last month in the top producing state of Iowa, the Associated Press reports.
According to the post on the company’s Facebook page, the beloved Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit will still be available but will only be served during the aforementioned hours.

Yea, well I have about a dozen cartons of free range, grass fed unwashed eggs in my fridge so there seems to be plenty for those who do for themselves. Take note…
