If you will fight and die to enforce the Bill of Rights, you are my brothers at war. If you would put any other consideration before that which is the inborn consideration for that which makes us human, then we are lost.
With the Bill of Rights comes to the individual every right to believe unto themselves as they freely choose. With the Bill of Rights come individual liberty and freedom. We are not fighting here for a religious belief, though we acknowledge that true Christianity is essential to an equilibrium for morality and decency, as there is an equal and opposite force coming from the other side.
GOD DAMN IT! We fight for the Bill of Rights because we are intelligent enough to know that this is the maximum effect of where our being comes from. No other consideration can exist other than that for the Bill of Right. WHY? Because it is the key to the chains that are upon us.
I don’t know if I have a soul, and if so, how much of one, but freedom, I have felt it, I have touched it, I have adjoined with it.
I know that any argument that two free men might have would have to be philosophical, if not at law, or personal, in which case why the hell would you bother anybody else about it.
But I guess on the other hand, Laura and I hit more than we missed.
Gentlemen. Let’s save the philosophical arguments until after the re-institution of the law. Don’t want to seem pig-headed, but I believe the latter must proceed the former. We have real enemies without making enemies among ourselves.
I repeat, the standard is, if you will fight and die to enforce the law of our Bill of Rights, you are my brothers at arms. If you put any other consideration above this, you reject the freedom to the belief that grants you true liberty. It sickens me that two people that I know could come together and form a unity, could put themselves above the true essence of the cause.
We are the f-king lucky ones. A million of our brothers and sisters live in squalor and despotism. Some of them have failed us and themselves by laying down and acquiescing to despotism. But I believe the majority are men, just lacking a little understanding and a way to push back.
