99ers HR 589 There is More for Us to Do

There are approximately 7 million 99ers to date and growing.  Any presumption that those in the highest seats of power in the United States government do not know of the misery that is spread throughout our land must be dismissed.  Of course they are not spying on us to ascertain our deteriorating condition, as they in fact do not want to see it.

Being a 99er has become like being incarcerated.  Every day we lose time that can never be regained.  Our clothes are worn and have holes in them and only we know the stress that is created in worrying about how we will pay our rent and electric bill and get the necessities for survival; food, soap, toilet paper, and tooth paste, not to mention those living out on the streets who consider these basic items a luxury.

Fourteen lousy weeks of unemployment at this point can equate to nothing more than a slower death.  It is time that we all face reality.

The fact is considering the complexity of the situation, addressing any one part of it seems a fruitless endeavor.  Watching the clowns in the mainstream propaganda is not funny anymore.  We 99ers have been in dire need of a thorough explanation in what has happened and what is happening to cause the destruction of our country and us with it.

I happened onto a documentary that explained the entire problem from top to bottom.  To date the thieves have stolen $23.7 trillion and they have only gotten started.  There is in fact $700 trillion worth of debt out there that is still unaccounted for.  That is more than the gross domestic product of this entire planet, four times over.  This scam is blatant and is right in our faces.  And if we don’t start talking about it our country is finished.

Many politicians come up with plans to cut here and tax there.  But they do so only out of their own interests as they know the true solution to the problem would stop the world status quo in its tracks.

I am challenging all who frequent this site to download the documentary “Zeitgeist III – Moving Forward” and watch it from beginning to end and then come on this site and others and start projecting its content into every conversation.  As I said earlier if we do not bring this matter front and center and start dealing with it, humanity et.al. might be finished.  The fact is the situation is so dire that even if the problem is realized it might very well take the use of our nuclear weapons to bring the situation to a halt and reverse it.

The thing is all of this debt doesn’t really exist and in spite of this fact it is causing a handful of corporate elite to be enabled to commit planetary genocide.  These people are mentally ill on a par with Jeffrey Dahmer and David Berkowitz.  Their minds have developed without conscience to the point that they could eat a steak and lobster dinner while watching children being slaughtered.

We must try to force this issue out into the open.  If nothing else it will justify our existence in that at least we tried.

  1. NOTHING LEFT TO SELL NO FOOD PLEASE HELP WE NEED TO BUY SOME TIME TO GET THREW THIS NOT MUTCH LONGER TILL PEOPLE START RIOTING THIS TALKING SHIT DOES NOT WORK 7 MILL 99ERS WILL GET HEADS TURNING

    1. Mike, If not for this talking shit how do you suggest we come together and unite? By the way, what the hell have you done this week to change things other than come onto this site and bitch about what we are doing? At least we are not so worthless as to sit around waiting for someone else to solve our problems. If you know of some strategy that we are overlooking that could be implemented right now, please step up and enlighten us.

  2. 7 million 99ers plus an untold number of spouses that are working two full time jobs and barely making it, the families where the kids are all pitching in what money they can to put food on the table, or keep utilities on, etc.The stress to ALL the family is nearly unbearable and keep in mind, it’s been for several years for some of the 99ers!!!!My husband lost his job of 17 years when another company bought out his company.BAM!!! There went our insurance and easy living with our 2 paychecks. He’s now 54 years old and has applied repeatedly to numerous small and large companies around here.N o luck for 4 years It’s a living nightmare. I can’t afford to pay for insurance for my husband , I barely make it from paycheck to paycheck. Thats with me working a good paying full time job 40 hours and a part time job 30 hours per week I never get a day off. I don’t know how long I can do this, I’m 52 now.At my part time job, I see people on welfare getting several hundred dollars of food stamp money . They can buy what ever they want with the access cards. They get free medical and dental and they don’t have to work 7 days a week and I hear them talk about their little parties and excursions all the time. I’m getting PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. I am doing all I can to help myself and yes I am on welfare. I receive food stamps (EBT) and an unbearable small allowance for personal needs. In fact I just went to the dentist yesterday (with Medicaid’s permission) because my teeth have been badly neglected due to lack of insurance and income. I was warned that if I did not fix a cavity on the upper left that it would break and cause unslightly damage. I called for an appointment right away inorder to save my teeth and my appearance which would affect me in getting employment. I am living with bare bone necessities and if not for welfare I would be stinking and starving to death. Don’t get me wrong, I am depressed and ashamed to be on welfare as I believe it to be the epitome of failure. But I did what I had to in order to survive. I constantly look for work, as a matter of fact I have an interview this afternoon. I have no parties or excursions and would much rather work. I moved back home for if I had an apartment or car I would certainly have lost it. I shudder to think of all the bills (which includes taxes) I will have to pay once and if ever I am employed again. I don’t know who you’ve been talking to but welfare is no joke and the Republicans might be putting it on the chopping block as we speak. No matter how “pissed” you may be, consider yourself one of the lucky ones as you still have a job and can pay for where you live. BTW my welfare expires at the end of June and if I still am unemployed I will have to go throught the process all over again. Sound like fun? Please let me be employed so that I might feel like a productive human being again! Although welfare has helped me in my darkest hour I long to escape it.

  3. HENERY ALL IM SAYING IS WE NEED TO BE SEEN AND 7MIL IN THE STREETS STOMPING THERE FEET WILL GET A RESPONSE A KNOW I PAYED INTO THIS FUND FOR 27 YEARS OUR GOV REP THEY DONT CARE MAYBE IF THEY LOST THERE HOUSES CARS THEY MIGHT FIGER OUT A REAL PROBLEM IS BREWING

  4. Henry, nice job. Your a good writer. The only problem is I feel not enough people read from the trenches or any other one of these comment sites. Not sure if your on a more popular media. You have alot to say and say it. You sometimes go a little too far, though most of the time your right on the money. I feel the millions need to really make it known that we are here and fighting for our lives. We need the popular media to help us like Opra and some of these editorial people on WPIX who actually like to help the good people of America. As far as I could see most of the people who make up the 99ers are very late 40’s, 50’s and 60’s years of age. These are the very people who have worked for the last 30+ years keeping our America well and alive. We are without a doubt the millions of great consumers who made this country grow. Sometimes I feel the government doesn’t care because they still have a job with a nice salary, great benefits and a retirement plan that can’t be beat.
We need to work together and the word needs to be said. We shall overcome. It was done before and it will be done again. We are millions! We need jobs now!
It only makes sense, if there aren’t jobs there should be unemployment for 99ers.
Not because we want it, because we need it to survive. It’s sad how the government slaps us in the face after all we did for them.

    1. Ted — you could help us by going on sites and leaving our website address. I know that a lot of people do not visit this site, if they did we would have enough people to form protest groups. I don’t think Henry goes too far at all — if you don’t want to hear the truth then you should not be here. I have noticed that some people who post on this website have not added their name to the Nationwide Rally. What’s up with that?

  5. People need to really realize what caused the recession and why it is not going to just fix by itself!!!

They need to realize what the definition of a 99er really is:

99ers are mostly a LARGE group of people that were chosen to be laid off ‘FIRST-back in 2008’ from SPECIALIZED TYPE POSITIONS in large prominent companies when and because of illegal RESIDENTIAL LENDING practices THE HOUSING MARKET CRUMBLED (hedge funds collapsed) …EFFECTING…. 69% of

RESIDENTIAL builders (construction) and residential bankers WERE THE FIRST LAID OFF!! – then because of the down sizing of the construction industry other industries were then effected and then came the lower end non proffesional occupations by the millions; general labor, warehouse, delivery drivers, security guards etc etc

Banks all of a sudden had to many foreclosures thus stopped giving out anymore RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION LOANS-the only way any economy can GROW is for banks to have the ‘AVAILABLE’ cash to RE-INVEST!).

These LAID OFF 99ERS were professional people who work in luxury industries;, ARCHITECTS, DESIGNERS OF ALL AREAS, MORTGAGE LOAN OFFICERS, ADVERTISING & MARKETING AGENTS, MANUFACTURING DESIGNERS PROFESSIONAL –THAT DEAL IN CONSTRUCTION MANUFACTURING SUCH AS WINDOWS DOORS ECT…..

EXPENSIVE LUXURY CARS SALESMEN were next because – high paid professionals who got laid off could not afford these expensive cars…LARGE MANUFACTURING COMPANIES CHOSE TO LEAVE THE USA AND OUTSOURCE OVER SEAS –WITH THE HELP OF foreign lobbies WHO pay politicans to benefit overseas and not the the Americans here the create policies such as Nafta to ship jobs overseas and so on and so on! A huge domino effect if you will,,,,,

PRESIDENT BUSH IGNORED EVERYTHING GOING ON AND LEFT IT FOR OBAMA TO FIX……….

OBAMA CAME INTO OFFICE WITH VERY LITTLE CONCERN FOR THE ECONOMY HE CONCETRATED ON SHOWING OFF HIS NEW HEALTHCARE DEAL THAT HE HAD BEEN PREPARING FOR 7 YEARS PRIOR TO EVER COMING INTO OFFICE!…………..

THESE 99ER PROFESSIONALS were the FIRST to be HIT BY THE RECESSION, and by the same RULE OF LAW OF MOTION will be THE LAST TO GO BACK TO WORK!..ALSO…it is a FACT THAT THE OLDER FOLKS were FIRST TO BE PICKED TO BE LAID OFF, FROM LARGER FIRMS, NOT SURE WHY THAT IS!!!…….BUT ILL BET IT HAS TO DO WITH THE ‘IDEA’ THAT OLDER WORKERS ARE LESS PHYSICALLY PRODUCTIVE AND COST COMPANIES MORE THAN YOUNGER EMPLOYEES.

Finally, now that there is a recession in motion the only way we can stop it is; to invest BACK into the economy and also help the 99ers so they can contribute from their end…. by passing a TIER V, so that the FIRST people laid off (99ers) can get back on their feet and the money they receive will be immediately pumped back into the deficient /failing economy.

“Once these indicators remain constant and stable, confidence in the economy rises, thereby allowing businesses and consumers to shift priorities from extreme conservation to planning improvements such as RESIDENTIAL & CONSTRUCTION and, expansion and RESIDENTIAL investments based on anticipated income and expenses for immediate, long term and future goals. “…….. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY, SO PASS TIER V, NOW!

    6)

As long as 10% of the people in the U.S. hold 70% of the wealth then we are doomed. Let’s put that in real numbers 10% equals 3 million 100 thousand people and that leaves 306 million and 900 thousand people to divide up the 30% of wealth in this country. Just another reason;=No wonder there are no jobs coming back ‘fast’= the money is tied up and does not flow through the country. We used to have taxes of 50% to 91% on wealthy BEFORE PRESIDENT BUSH’s NEW 10 YEAR TAX BREAK FOR THE RICH WAS PASSED and that kept money flowing through the economy because if it wasn’t invested they lost it to taxes. Now there is ………………..ABSOLUTELY NO INCENTIVE………… to invest THUS the money is hoarded and the country slowly comes to a halt. FURTHERMORE –

    7)

WE MUST REALLY CONSIDER THE FACT THAT CHINA and JAPAN WILL SOON BECOME THE SOLE ECONOMIC POWER IN THE NEXT DECADE MAKING US RELY ON THEM BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THE ONLY SOLUTION IS FOR THE USA TO ‘GROW SOME BALLS AND START REALLY –TAXING- CHINA REPEATEDLY- BEFORE IT IS TOO- TOO- TOO- LATE!!!,,,,,,,

,STOP ALLOWING ANYMORE ILLEGAL ENTRY INTO THE USA! Not even a ON A WORK VISA …ALL hurting Americans and 99ers must STOP BUYING ANYTHING MADE IN CHINA OR JAPAN

THE USA NEEDS TO TAX THE GOODS ENTERING THE USA FROM EVERY MANUFACTURER THAT LEFT THE USA AND IS NOW DOING BUSINESS IN ANOTHER COUNTRY!….USE THE TAX TO PAY FOR ADDITIONAL UNEMPLOYEMENT TIERS!

IF SOME OF THESE THINGS ARENT DONE –AT LEAST BUY US 99ers -THEN, don’t COMPLAIN WHEN ALL THAT I HAVE PREDICTED GETS seriously WORSE!

Maybe even BOY COTT ‘T-MOBILE CELLULAR’ because they moved their corporate office to the Philippines!……LETS TAKE SOME ACTION 99ERS!

    1. I agree with you totally (excellent points) however I think America is doomed to failure based on intense greed. Republicans are going to cut everything in sight and create a big set back in this repression with further job loss. We have to become lobbyist inorder to be reckoned with. China might replace the US as the new world power in our lifetime unless something drastic happens. BTW the house voted down the HR 589 extension. Perish you vile slave!

  6. Is there really only 250 unemployed people that use the internet? Have you guys not seen the HR 589 bill review at OpenCongress? Only 200 people support it? Let’s not fail our cause, get our voices heard. Lets show them how many people really approve this bill, and also follow all the details about HR 589.

    http://www.opencongress.org/bill/112-h589/show

THIS IS WHY NO ONE WILL LISTEN!!

  7. Reps. Lee and Scott are two of the most liberal members of Congress, so even moderate Republicans are afraid to be seen as supporting something they support, but HR589-The Emergency Unemployment Compensation Act of 2011 will die without Republican support. I have taken it upon myself to write a letter to every moderate Republican (and some, like Reps. Denny Rehberg and Paul Gosar, who are NOT moderate), asking them to support the bill. In each letter, I stressed the following: (a) How much I appreciate the stand that he or she and other House Republicans are taking against adding to the federal deficit; (b) from checking his or her record, I know that he or she is an independent thinker, refusing to walk lock-step with any pressure group; (c) noted economists, including Dr. Mark Zandi of Moody’s Analytics, assert that paying the benefits we’re asking for will stimulate the economy rather than be a drain or drag on it; so (d) the position of Reps. Lee and Scott is not only the wiser, more supportable one, but is also clearly the moral, ethical one; and (e) I am not a dead-beat or bum; I worked (and paid my unemployment insurance premiums for over 50 years, and am diligently searching for work, but need help now that my UI benefits have run out, so I’m asking them to support HR-589.

At my own expense, I’m sending this to every member of the House of Representatives who also belongs to The Ripon Society (a theoretically moderate Republican think tank); next, I’ll send it to other Republican members of the House.

Obviously, on a couple of the points above, I “customized the truth,” but I believe the old saying about flies and honey.

  8. I just wanted to tell those who are saying they have no food. If you don’t have an income or a very low income, it is a simple process to get food stamps – go to your local social services, stand in a long line, get your application, fill it out, give it back and wait for them to send you an appointment time. Go back and wait again to see your new case worker and answer the questions she asks – sometimes you will get your card to buy food the same day. When you get your appointment time, make sure to bring everything listed on it to the appointment. You will have to wait for a letter letting you know you have been approved, but if you call the number on the card, you most likely can start using the card before you get the letter. That took me all of 2 trips and very much worth the money I get for food. So don’t go hungry, get your butt down to the SS in your area (look it up on the internet, ask someone, call 411).
I am just starting the process to get free medical and medication. I haven’t started utility help, but believe individuals may be able to get that service as well.
Okay, having said that, the above services are available to both individuals and families, but families have many other social services options. (In California, I can’t find any other services for individuals except local charities, i.e. churches, good samaritans, etc.) Families can also get rent assistance and/or welfare, medical, food and utilities.
Credit cards, no help there, of course. I claimed bankruptcy after losing my home and when I still had the money to do so and I have no guilt whatsoever. If I was in better spirits I would laugh at the following: I tried to sell my house for $385, kept lowering it until I was upside down. Gave it to an upside down realty and they couldn’t sell it for $225,000 (tons wanted to buy it at that price, but the bank wouldn’t accept it). Here’s is the ironic part – I recently got a form from my bank (that goes to the IRS) that said I owed $354,000 on my house and the fair market value IS $425,000! LOL – $425,000? My house was a townhouse 1340 sq feet. Again, how stupid do they think we are???? Didn’t know the housing market was doing so well – not!!
Back to the family struggling, it depends on how much you are making at your 40 hr a week job. Whatever you are making is more than those of who can’t get jobs. I would find out what the highest amount you can make is in order for a family of your size to get help and weigh it against what you are making at your part-time job and decide whether having a nervous breakdown is worth it.
Final irony – I find it interesting that for families in particular, our astute leaders are just allowing the shifting in one area of entitlements to another. What????
My biggest frustration is that we don’t have the money to get to the capital where it will make the most sense to protest. But if something doesn’t give soon – jobs or assistance – I will borrow the money and take my tent and pitch it right in front of the House of Reps/Senate – use my food stamps to eat and peeing wherever I have to.
I really really hate comparing us to holocaust victims, but it is clear that our leaders are just as cold hearted as any dictator – one difference – they will not dirty their hands getting rid of us, they will just wait silently and kill us off through attrition.

  9. P.S. – my comments were not meant to criticize anyone if they haven’t started processes to get help. I meant only to offer information that will hopefully help you. I also realize whatever we get is not enough. We have been supporting our system for decades and now they have decided to arbitrarily just retire us and take away our right to work AND our dignity! I have to stop ranting now – my heart is ramping up!

  10. I have been off for four years since my position in the insurance field was eliminated due to age discrimination perfected by GWB’s federal judges. There are no jobs for 50 something professionals! We need relief ASAP…

  12. Food for Thought

What if the 99ers could set up a Financial Assistance Fund whereas every person contributed money (example: $5 x 5 million people = $5,000,000) into an account. This money would be used to help each other on a minimal basis. A committee could be appointed to serve and oversee the distribution of these funds. The maximum amount alloted and how often received by each person/household per year would have to be decided and worked out. A certain percentage of the financial assistance given to a person/household would be automatically deducted beforehand (10%) + a contribution; that money would be returned to the Fund so that there would continuous money in the account to help others in dire need. Maybe we could even illicit charitable donations to the Fund from others, i.e., organizations, corporations, foundations, churches, the 2% rich, etc., since the government won’t help us in any way, shape or form. Why not try to do our own thing. I know there would be a lot of kinks to untangle in this armor, but maybe it could be done.

I say all of this because there are a lot of people (99ers) who don’t qualify for food stamps, Medicaid or monetary assistance from government run social service programs. A lot of these programs run out of funding fairly quickly and are of no help at times when most needed. Sometimes I believe they are instructed not to be of much help. I only say this due to re-occurring incidents that I have witnessed when dealing with the staff of these programs. Its as if their all programmed/robotic in their words and responses when addressing the needs of the public. Interesting.

  13. The websites and comments by the UE are dwindling by the week, pretty soon there will be about a dozen people left? Then 3 then 2 then 1, who will be the last one left? I expect I will click on this site one of these days and it too will have closed down or have NO comments, everybody has vanished…I dunno, really startin to sound like some sinister alien abduction conspiracy scenario, something’s going on. Maybe the UE are being “taken” for some government experiments somewhere’s. While the 50 and 60 yr. old’s are not the “internet generation” are all the 99ers besides me over 40?

  14. I like Mizori’s DC’s idea. We can help ourselves if we could find a way to make it work. I like the idea for a non profit organization to specifically help 99ers. I’d like to thank this site for keeping the struggle that the unemployed face and ideas flowing!

  15. we have within the 99yrs another group with even less hope of finding work.the folks 50yrs and older.im 56 and cant find a job no matter how hard i try.I worked my entire life saving and planning to retire at 55.I have as much as been told im to old.why would they hire me?they can hire a young worker for much less.there health plans will be less with younger workers.i just cant believe my government that i have been so trusting of all my life would betray me like this.i dont hear this reported any where none of are politicans speak of us in any shape way or form.all i know is i have paid social security for 40yrs.I want and need that money back now.

  16. you know im 63 going to be 64 in 28 days , fought for this country in Nam now im a 99er and no one is hiring a guy my age the government has all but written us off. I did autobody work for 44 yrs. (never thought that business would die off) written the White House, Congress and it doesn’t matter. If we cant find away to march on Washington as a whole, we are not going to be heard.E-mails, faxs, phone calls there are NO FACES BEHIND THEM.WE need to show Washington who we are,
We dont have the money to get there, that much i know,so what are we supposed to do?I dont have the answer, i wish someone did.
I do know if somethig isnt done we will all perish.
Henry i like what i read from you but we need to find someother way to get our message out and that means going to Washington.
Pleasa someone come up with an idea and i will find away to get there. That much i promise you

  17. TODAY 1,000 NURSES MADE THE CHANNEL 7 NEWS……..WHY CANT (1) MILLION 99ERS MAKE THE NEWS??? ARE WE NOT THAT IMPORTANT WHAT ARE WE DOING WRONG- TO NOT GET ONTO AN ACTUAL TV NEWS CHANEL????………I ask 5 people per day if they ever heard of the 99ers and not one person HAS EVER HEARD OF THEM!!!!

LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — Some 1,000 nursesstriked Wednesday outside the Kaiser Permanente’s Los Angeles Medical Center gathered as of 6 a.m. for the planned, 24-hour strike. The picket lines stretched all the way around the facility.
Organizers say the nurses are protesting Kaiser’s unfair labor practices and a failure to protect patient care standards.

    http://www.ktla.com/news/landing/ktla-nurses-strike,0,7869089.story

    1. Hey Bugs,
Who owns the news then you will know why we are not on it. Its not that the 99ers are not trying they are getting stone walled by the media for the sake of the people that own it so they do not look so awful while they keep laying off and firing people. We need to rally where the rich live and stalk them then you will get the news on you. Till then these lovers of the oldest evil “money” will hang out and wait. God bless us and gives us the strength to take on the 1 to 2 % of the people and they know we are coming. Amen.

  18. When is the bill going before the house again. My wife and I along with our 4 month old son are now in serious trouble. I apply to 40 jobs per day but we need food and shelter. Does anyone know if the bill (hr 589) is going to go before the house at all in the near future?

    1. It doesn’t look good, Mike. Right now, Barbara Lee is up to 72 co-sponsors. Not nearly enough to pass ( if it Ever gets out of the Committee for a vote ) and still No Republican support.
