Americans buy nearly 18,000 TONNES of ammunition in the past year in weapons boom

Sunday Express – by Will Kirby

Around “2,865 tonnes of bullets” were purchased in November alone as demand for firearms skyrockets to unprecedented levels.

Ammo imports in November mark a whopping 200 per cent rise compared with sales 12 months ago according to research firm Panjiva.

A Panjiva representative, Chris Rogers, said: “It’s very unusual in an import industry like this to see such a big move.

“It tells you that there’s a customer demand that’s not being met by U.S. manufacturers.”

Top foreign importers include South Korea’s ‘Poongsan Corporation’, Fiocchi Munizioni of Italy and Prvi Partizan of Serbia, according to Panjiva.

Speculation about the reasons behind the surge in gun and ammunition sale is rife, with some reports suggest Hillary Clinton’s pledge to make it more difficult for Americans to buy weapons resulted in panic buys across the country.

There are also suggestions the Orlando nightclub shootings in June prompted many Americans to buy their own firearms to protect themselves in the event of another mass shooting.

In the aftermath, US President Barack Obama called for laws that would it more difficult for terrorists to purchase arms, particularly assault rifles.

He said: “This massacre is a further reminder of how easy it is for someone to get their hands on a weapon that lets them shoot people.

“And we have to decide if that’s the kind of country we want to be.”

The record for the number of background checks for firearms sales has been broken every month for the past 19 consecutive months.

By November, the number of checks carried out this year was already higher than in any year in history, with the FBI reporting that 24,767,514 background checks were carried out between January and November this year.

  1. Hmm, interesting. Some are preparing and some are preparing to leave.

Those planning on leaving can donate their ammo on their way out! You may keep one round in case you change your mind. At least THEN they’ll have served a purpose.

  2. Such poor reporting.
    How much ammo was imported?
How much domestically produced ammo was purchased?
How much was purchased and delivered to the Coproaches?

  3. Reason Number 1: Fiocci and PriviPartisan are top quality ammunition producers at a reasonable price for that quality.

Reason Number 2: People recognize that 90% of the worlds ammunition available for sale is off shore. At some point this gaggle of hooligans that constitutes a government is going to put a stop to importation of any munitions or weapons into the USA Inc. They are buying the good affordable priced ammo while they can get it. Mostest for the leastest.

Reason Number 3: Federal Reserve Notes are worthless, the economy is on the verge of total collapse “Road Warrior” style and having a means of dealing with brigands is vital. People know that at some level and are preparing to meet those challenges.

Reason Number 4: Americans are preparing for with what little means they have left CIVIL WAR.

I just hope they’ve also prepared in the way of food, fuel and Know How to rebuild a civilization after the dust up that is coming.
