MADISON, Wis. — A full-scale training exercise simulating a long-term mass power outage in Wisconsin kicks off May 15 at sites around the state.

Known as Dark Sky, the exercise runs May 15-17 in Brown, Calumet, Dane, Fond du Lac, Milwaukee, Outagamie and Winnebago Counties and will test the abilities of private utilities, law enforcement, first responders and the National Guard to respond to the scenario as well as its second and third order effects.   Continue reading “Dark Sky exercise slated for May 15-17 at sites across state”

The United States of America considers military presence around the world as one of the key tools for ensuring national interests. The Pentagon has a huge amount of military bases and various facilities outside the national territory in more than 30 countries. Besides, US military instructors carry out training missions for local armed units of dozens of foreign states while the US special operations forces operate in more than 80 countries. The maintenance and expansion of military facilities network as well as conducting operations abroad in 2018 will cost the US taxpayer $89 billion, $23.2 billion more than the year before. However, financing global military presence isn’t the main challenge the US DoD is facing. A much more complicated task is to bring the foreign units to strength with physically and mentally healthy personnel as by September 2018 the Pentagon needs to enlist over 80,000 volunteers. A federal appeals court in Illinois ruled Thursday the Trump administration could not withhold public safety grants from cities solely because those cities had so-called “sanctuary” policies protecting illegal immigrants.

The decision by a three-judge panel of the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago said the administration exceeded its authority in establishing a new condition for cities to qualify for the grants. Hanford, Calif. — A couple allegedly tortured and murdered a 70-year-old Vietnam War veteran in Hanford, Calif. in an attempt to gain access to his financial information, police say.

Threats and then missile strikes fell on Syria from the US and their allies. All of the threats are once again based on fake statements and staged shootings of “White Helmets” about the alleged use of chemical weapons by Assad. Again, the theatrical performance became the reason for armed aggression against a sovereign country. Washington decided to act in the English style: “pass sentence, then make a decision.” Nobody wanted to clarify the truth, US President D. Trump had to make a missile strike on Syria as soon as possible. Longtime radio host Art Bell died Friday at his Pahrump home, the Nye County Sheriff’s Office announced. He was 72.
