The juror in Ghislaine Maxwell’s sex-trafficking trial whose press comments may result in a new trial for the convicted socialite works as an executive assistant at private-equity giant Carlyle Group Inc.

In video and newspaper interviews since the Dec. 29 verdict, the juror said he was a victim of sex abuse as a child and that his story helped sway other members of the panel who questioned the credibility of some of Maxwell’s accusers. Maxwell, the former girlfriend of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, was convicted on five of six counts related to a sex-trafficking scheme and faces as many as 65 years in prison. A recently fired California grocery store worker was arrested in Iowa last week after he was found with a TikTok “hit list” filled with the of names of political and public figures, including President Biden, former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Dr. Anthony Fauci, in a haphazard plan to “combat evil demons in the White House,” according to court records.

Kuachua Brillion Xiong, 25, was taken into custody on Dec. 21 following a traffic stop in Cass County. The FBI’s so-called secret spy plane surveillance program is under scrutiny in a Florida terrorism case, where the defendant has asked a federal judge to toss evidence from the bureau’s aerial surveillance activities.

The FBI’s aerial surveillance program was first revealed in June 2015 by the Associated Press (AP), which reported that the bureau maintained a civilian air force through private shell companies.
