A manhunt was underway Sunday for a suspect in the killing of a police officer near a suburban Atlanta school after he and his partner responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle, authorities said.

CIUDAD HIDALGO, Mexico (AP) — About 2,000 Central American migrants who circumvented Mexican police at a border bridge and swam, forded and floated across the river from Guatemala decided on Saturday to re-form their mass caravan and continue their trek northward toward the United States.

Antwan Toney and another officer approached a vehicle near the Shiloh Middle School in Snellville to check out a report of people smoking marijuana, according to Sgt. The number of candidates targeted by negative messages this election season seems to have increased, according to a Vermont State Police detective. And, the manner in which a death threat was sent to a candidate for the Vermont House of Representatives — through the mail — is the first he’s seen in 13 years with the agency.

(Reuters) – Sears Holdings Corp filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday with a plan to close 142 more stores, throwing into doubt the future of the century-old retailer that once dominated U.S. malls but has withered in the age of internet shopping.

A New York state man built a 200-pound bomb in his basement and planned to detonate it in Washington on Election Day, according to federal authorities who arrested him.

Paul Rosenfeld, 56, of Tappan, intended to kill himself in the explosion and draw attention to his political beliefs, prosecutors said. The Justice Department unsealed charges Wednesday against a suspected Chinese spy for allegedly conducting economic espionage and trying to steal trade secrets from U.S. aerospace companies.

The money is going to Americans for Carbon Dividends, the advocacy arm of the Climate Leadership Council, a group that has proposed a $43 per metric ton tax on carbon dioxide emissions. Breitbart Texas reported that Tucson and Yuma Sector Border Patrol officials described the illegal crossing of massive numbers of families and unaccompanied minors as a “humanitarian crisis.” The number of these classifications of migrants doubled in recent months. JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s wife, Sara, appeared in court on Sunday for the first hearing in the fraud trial against her, in which she is alleged to have misused state funds in ordering catered meals.
