The Organic Prepper

A lot of people like to think that the SHTF is some distant thing that probably won’t ever happen. But, in reality, it happens every single day, someplace in the world. Riots have occurred all over the world recently, stranding travelers, destroying property, and causing serious injuries and death.

Here are 3 different places where all hell has broken loose in just the past few days.   Continue reading “RIOTS: 3 Places All Hell Has Broken Loose in the Last Few Days”

Are you convinced that you can’t prep unless you have a whole lot of money to spend? That couldn’t be further from the truth. There are all sorts of ways you can become better prepared without spending a dime. The thing to remember is that there is a lot more to prepping than just feverishly filling mylar bags with food or stacking ammo to the ceiling. You need to think outside of the consumer mindset.   Continue reading “10 Smart Ways to Prep Without Spending Money”

Having overcome a few personal incidents that rocked the boat these last few weeks, I want to write now about one of the most important experiences regarding the psychological aspect of prepping. Looking back as a Venezuelan prepper, there are things I would have done differently if I had fully known what was coming our way.

Enduring what we have gone through, even after having a proper approach to prepping, sort of conventional in a sense: gensets, water tanks, storage capacity, dry supplies for a few months, and other stuff, all of these are into the field of the conventional and regular prepping.  Continue reading “A Venezuelan Prepper Looks Back: “Things I Would Have Done Differently If I Knew What Was Coming””

In a move straight out of the Soviet Union handbook, PG&E has warned they may cut electrical power to some California residents during “extreme weather” to help prevent wildfires.

This comes after some poorly maintained Pacific Gas and Electric power lines have been determined to have started last year’s deadly wildfires in the Napa Valley wine country area.   Continue reading “PG&E Plans to Cut Electricity to Some California Residents to Prevent Wildfires”

A couple of centuries ago, our country’s Founding Fathers wrote and signed a declaration of our independence from another country. They included a bill of the rights that they wished to ensure for their descendants. While not perfect people, by any means, they tried to create a nation of liberty that would go on for centuries to come.

What people seem to be missing is that the Bill of Rights isn’t a list of “privileges” granted to us by gray-haired rich men in the 1700s. We are endowed with natural human rights from the moment we are born.  We also bear the responsibility to protect our independence from those who would subjugate us.   Continue reading “How to Make Your LIFE a Declaration of Independence”

How do you know if the SHTF is actually here? One of the cornerstones of survival is how to recognize that a situation has gone so bad that the S is truly going to hit the fan.

Basically, we are talking how to recognize that it is time to bug out or hunker down because it is going to be bad.   Continue reading “SELCO: These Are the Signs the SHTF Is Happening for Real”

Folks will want to be especially alert on the 4th of July this year for a variety of reasons. Hopefully, it will just be a peaceful day of barbecues, parades, and fireworks, but there are some current events that you should consider before making plans to be out there with the crowds.

While there are no specific or credible immediate threats, with all the craziness going on in our country lately, it pays to be vigilant on the 4th of July. Personally, I tend to think that at some point in the not-so-distant future, things are going to boil over. Will it be this week during the Independence Day celebrations? I have absolutely no idea, but I’m not taking any chances and I felt compelled to share my thoughts with you.   Continue reading “CAUTION: Americans Should Be Prepared for ANYTHING on the 4th of July”

I find the most difficult aspect of survival is to keep a positive mindset. Definitely, it is. The crisis is not over when you escape the collapse. While I expected when I got my family out, our struggles were over, they have just begun.  Once you have been a successful professional, with an entire life ahead of you, and a good amount of the road already left behind, and find as refugees in a foreign country…this is where you really know about how strong you can be.

Or how weak, in my case. Don’t misunderstand me, please. I have been much more fortunate than many of my people, and I give thanks to God for that.   Continue reading “What Life Is Like for Venezuelan Refugees: The Crisis Isn’t Over When You Escape the Collapse”

The rhetoric in the United States is heating up and we’re sounding anything but…well…united. It seems to most media pundits like we are too far down the path to Civil War 2.0 to turn back now. Activists are laying siege to government offices. Threats toward people who disagree are growing in ferocity. It’s ugly and getting uglier. It’s a powder keg that is about to erupt. (Here are some thoughts on what a full-fledged Civil War might look like.)

It is only a matter of time before civil unrest begins to escalate and spread throughout the country. Many people are wondering, how do you keep your family safe during widespread unrest? It’s not about being fearful. It’s about being prepared.  Continue reading “How to Survive the Civil Unrest That’s Coming to America”

Everyone is talking about a looming civil war on American soil, but they’re all blaming the “other” side. The media is deliberately trying to stir things up with breathless headlines about how awful the “other” side is. And it’s working so well it could lead us right to Civil War 2.0.

The fact is, both the Left and the Right are to blame, threatening those who don’t have the same worldview. What it’s essential for us to keep in mind is that these are the opinions of the extremes of both sides. We in America have had conservative and liberal points of view along with everything in between for decades without the constant, looming threat of violence.   Continue reading “The Media is Deliberately Trying to Spawn Civil War 2.0”

You can still prep even if you don’t have a lot of money to spare. Here’s a list we brainstormed over in Prep Club, our Facebook group, of items that can be purchased for a dollar or less.

Some of these things can be found at stores like WalMart while others will be at your local dollar store. Remember that often the quality of one dollar items will not be as high as the more expensive ones, while other times it won’t matter at all. When I get dry foods from the dollar store, I always pop it in the freezer for a few days to kill off any larvae that could be lurking.   Continue reading “100+ Preps You Can Get for $1”

Editor’s noteA point I’ve been harping on a lot lately is how we in the United States have been divided by politics and the media lately. Many have become callous and lost their humanity. People have begged for laws and rulings against others but don’t like those laws and rulings when it later applies to them. It will ring familiar when you read this article as Selco shares how the media manipulated the population of the Balkans fanning the flames of hatred and fear. To paraphrase, if we don’t learn from history, we’ll repeat the mistakes, again and again. Don’t let yourself be manipulated by half-truths and hate-mongering propaganda. ~ Daisy   Continue reading “SELCO: “The media manipulated people, bombarding us with fear and hate” during the Balkan Wars. Every single action taken is a precursor to a future action. That’s something that not enough people understand. All of these things that sound like such good ideas when they happen to the “enemy,” whoever that might be? They seem a whole lot less like good ideas when they happen to you. Americans are getting exactly the country they asked for and they don’t like it at all.

The astounding levels of cognitive dissonance make it impossible for some people to see that they themselves were the ones who set the precedents for things happening today. If you give the government – any government, not just ours – an inch, they will take a mile, and I guarantee some of that mile will be to your own detriment.   Continue reading “Americans Are Getting the Country They Asked For and They Don’t Like It”

Sometimes I fear for humanity.

Not because I think an asteroid is going to wipe us all out or that Skynet is actually coming to fruition (it is!) or that aliens are going to take over the planet or that a pandemic will kill 99% of us.

But because of the utter lack of ethics, humanity, and compassion that I see every single day. Maybe the end of humanity is just that – we will regress to some animal mentality without that part of the brain that causes us to care for others and will exist only to satiate our need for food, water, and reproduction.   Continue reading “Will Our Lack of Humanity Be the END of Humanity?”

As I revised my existing material and notes into the articles that this series became, my ideas advanced from a library that one person could accumulate into a bigger project. This final article will primarily discuss this bigger project: restarting civilization.

With this final article of this series I want to weave together the threads of the previous articles into a plan that, if fully executed, could prepare humankind to restore our technological civilization should a civilization-destroying disaster occur.  Continue reading “After the End of the World: Restarting Civilization”

Did you ever wonder what the life of a mother in Venezuela is like?

This is not a fictional story. It is a couple of days in the life of one of our best friends, in our country, under the current conditions. Her son suffers from diabetes. He is 12 years old and has lost one tooth because he is malnourished and needs a special diet. We’ll call her L.  Continue reading “What Life Is Really Like for a Venezuelan Mom”

In the survival-prepper world, it is very important what you carry with you and just as much so, how you carry it. But it is a giant myth that there is just one right way to do this. Despite what many people want to say, there is no perfect and universal everyday carry, perfect and universal bug out bag, car kit, or other gear.

There might be some items or universal rules that every kit should have, but everything else is based on the specific situation.   Continue reading “SELCO: The Myth of the Perfect EDC and Bug Out Bag”

Editor’s NoteIn February of 2018, Fatou Bensouda, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, released a statement about her preliminary investigation of the alleged crimes against the people of Venezuela.

The preliminary examination of the situation in Venezuela will analyse crimes allegedly committed in this State Party since at least April 2017, in the context of demonstrations and related political unrest. It would be difficult to overlook the epidemic of depression that has struck the United States over the past decades. The CDC recently found that death by suicide was up more than 30% and the use of antidepressants has vaulted 65% in the past 15 years.

There are many different theories about this increase. Everything from internet addiction to the Trump presidency to environmental causes has been blamed. Some believe it’s always been like this but that the stigma has lessened and more people are getting help.  Continue reading “200 Ordinary Medications Cause Depression and Suicidal Thoughts: Are YOU Taking One of Them?”

The FDA has warned of a multistate salmonella outbreak that has been traced back to a popular Kellogg’s cereal. So far, the outbreak has affected 73 people in 31 states.

The outbreak has been traced back to Honey Smacks cereal and is not only in the United States, but may potentially affect shipments that have been delivered to Aruba/Curaçao/Saint Maarten (Netherlands Antilles), the Bahamas, Barbados, Tortola (British Virgin Islands), Costa Rica, Guatemala, Haiti, Mexico, Panama, and Tahiti (French Polynesia).   Continue reading “ALERT: Kellogg’s Cereal Recall Due to Salmonella”
