Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a bacteria that is resistant to many of the strongest antibiotics, and although recent prevalence has been limited to hospitals and nursing homes, a new study of 161 New York City residents who contracted the MRSA infections finds that the these people’s homes were “major reservoirs” for the bacteria strains. Atlanta (CBS ATLANTA) – An anti-biotic resistant “superbug” that has long affected hospitals and other health care locations around the world has now found a new “reservoir” location: inside U.S. homes.

Real Clear Science – by Ross Pomeroy

In February, reports filtered in from Germany that two men died of cardiac arrhythmia triggered by marijuana intoxication. At a headline’s glance, the tragic deaths seemed to spoil cannabis’ unblemished track record: Until that point, no cases of fatal overdose were known to science.

It should be noted, however, that these two men — aged 23 and 28 — did not overdose. The researchers who reviewed their deaths in the journal Forensic Science International reportedthat “the younger man had a serious undetected heart problem and the older one had a history of alcohol, amphetamine and cocaine abuse.” Since all other causes of death were ruled out, the researchers assumed that marijuana spiked their heart rates and blood pressures, causing their hearts to fall out of rhythm.   Continue reading “It’s Easier to Die from Drinking Too Much Water Than Smoking Too Much Pot”

War Makes Banks Rich

Bankers are often the driving force behind war.

After all, the banking system is founded upon the counter-intuitive but indisputable fact that banks create loans first, and then create deposits later.

In other words, virtually all money is actually created as debt. For example, in a hearing held on September 30, 1941 in the House Committee on Banking and Currency, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve (Mariner S. Eccles) said:   Continue reading “Bankers Love War Because It Creates Massive Profits”

Capitalist Preservation – by Elizabeth Nelson

We’ve all read them, we can’t get around them, not even on Twitter. Being the editor of a fabulous blog that’s about to hit a million views, a Conservative blog in a world of mindless Obama Zombies no less. Unfortunately Rob, Will and I have had the misfortune of reading our share of them, as anonymous Trolling liberal commenters feel compelled to “bomb” our blog and our TimeLine, like the emotional terrorists that they are.

However, as the annon commenter on Philly.com is about to find out, the First Amendment doesn’t extend to libelous, defamation, character attacks posted from “anonymous,” that is. Now, a ruling by a judge in Philadelphia might give “anonymous” second thoughts about making incendiary or defamatory comments online.   Continue reading “Anonymous Trollers Beware – No 1st Amendment Rights in Defamation Case”

DENVER (AP) — A college student eats more than the recommended dose of a marijuana-laced cookie and jumps to his death from a hotel balcony. A husband with no history of violence is accused of shooting his wife in the head, possibly after eating pot-infused candy.

The two recent deaths have stoked concerns about Colorado’s recreational marijuana industry and the effects of the drug, especially since cookies, candy and other pot edibles can be exponentially more potent than a joint.   Continue reading “Colorado deaths stoke worries about pot edibles”

Coincidence Or Accident? Microsoft Security Essentials Bug Rendering XP Machines Hamstrung Like A VirusHot Hardware – by Rob Williams

Since its release back in 2009, Microsoft Security Essentials has become a respected anti-virus / anti-malware solution. Even I, someone who never went out of their way to run such a solution, used it from the get-go due to its solid design and effective scanning. The fact that it was a cost-free solution sure didn’t hurt, either. As it is today, though, there are many out there starting to wonder if MSE is all it’s cracked up to be. And Microsoft has backed away from the product as of late it seems as well.   Continue reading “Coincidence Or Accident?
