Texas Republican Rep. Lamar Smith reacted harshly to a new report detailing the crimes committed by 36,007 criminal immigrants that Immigration and Customs Enforcement released last year.

“This would be considered the worst prison break in American history, except it was sanctioned by the President and perpetrated by our own immigration officials. These criminal immigrants should have been deported to ensure that they could never commit crimes on U.S. soil. But instead, ICE officials chose not to detain them and instead released them back onto American streets,” Smith said in a statement Monday.    Continue reading “Lamar Smith Calls ICE Release of 36,000 Criminal Immigrants a President-Sanctioned Prison Break”

Although the Harvard Extension School Cultural Studies Club dropped its sponsorship of a reenactment of a satanic “black mass” ritual earlier in the night, members of the New York-based Satanic Temple gathered for what appeared to be a black mass on the second floor of the Hong Kong restaurant and lounge shortly after 10 p.m. Monday.

About 50 people, mostly dressed in black and some wearing face makeup, were present for the ceremony. A consecrated host, believed by Catholics to be the body of Christ, was not used in the ritual.   Continue reading “Even as Harvard Group Drops Sponsorship, Black Mass Underway at Hong Kong”

Washington » Just south of Canyonlands National Park, the redrock wonders merge into a scrubland oasis with a peak that juts 11,000 feet into the sky. Mesas and buttes provide panoramic views and canyons, and ancient cliff dwellings offer a unique retreat.

It’s a region that holds sacred and historic value to the Navajo Nation, which has pitched Congress on creating the Diné Bikéyah National Conservation Area to protect the 1.9 million acres in San Juan County from development. I11 & Intermountain West Corridor Study

To explore the role of a potential I-11 corridor, the Arizona and Nevada Departments of Transportation are working together on the 2-year I-11 and Intermountain West Corridor Study. It will include detailed corridor planning of a possible Interstate link between Phoenix and Las Vegas (the I-11 portion), as well as high-level visioning for potential future extensions of the Corridor north to Canada and south to Mexico. Through the recent transportation authorization bill, (MAP-21) Congress recognized the importance of the portion of the Corridor between Phoenix and Las Vegas and designated it as future I-11, intended to be a new high-capacity, multimodal transportation facility connecting the two cities. Extended, it has the potential to become a major multimodal north-south transcontinental Corridor through the Intermountain West, connecting cities, trade hubs, ports, intersecting highways, and railroads.   Continue reading “A Visionary Transportation Corridor”

WASHINGTON — An elderly blind veteran crying in pain spent four hours and 45 minutes in the emergency room of the VA Medical Center in North Las Vegas before seeing a doctor in October, but federal inspectors said in a report Wednesday that such long waits were not unusual for patients at the hospital.

Sandi Niccum, 78, waited 63 minutes before an initial check by a triage nurse for abdominal pain, then was sent to continue waiting without being rechecked periodically before finally seeing a physician. Hospital workers failed to reassess her condition during the long wait, as they are required to do on an hourly basis, according to a 19-page report by the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General.   Continue reading “Inspectors: Long waits at North Las Vegas VA hospital not unusual”

According to NBC News, the crowd paraded through the streets with several figurines that appeared constructed with the full detail of a parade float. The centerpiece of the protest, however, was a large dog with the face of the President of the Philippines, Benigno Aquino III. The dog pulled a chariot controlled by a figurine of President Barack Obama, which was burned in effigy while floating through the streets.   Continue reading “Filipino Protesters Burn Effigy of Barack Obama to Protest New Defense Deal”
