The CIA’s vaccination gambit put at risk something very precious — the integrity of public health programs in Pakistan and around the globe. The Obama administration has quietly scrapped plans to enact sweeping new federal quarantine regulations that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention touted four years ago as critical to protecting Americans from dangerous diseases spread by travelers.The regulations, proposed in 2005 during the Bush administration amid fears of avian flu, would have given the federal government additional powers to detain sick airline passengers and those exposed to certain diseases. They also would have expanded requirements for airlines to report ill passengers to the CDC and mandated that airlines collect and maintain contact information for fliers in case they later needed to be traced as part of an investigation into an outbreak. In recent weeks we have been telling you about a new FDA proposal to increase its control over low-cost laboratory-developed tests—including locally performed custom diagnostics and tests for rare conditions. Tests like these are the future of medicine. People will soon be able to test for and spot cancers long before they manifest themselves using current methods. ObamaCare was crafted to suit the largest insurance companies, and now your tax dollars are subsidizing them.
The House Oversight Committee has issued a report called “ObamaCare’s Taxpayer Bailout of Health Insurers and the White House’s Involvement to Increase Bailout Size.” The report states that ObamaCare contains $1 billion in bailouts in 2014 alone for insurance companies who offer coverage in the individual and small group market. Cancer pioneer Stanislaw Burzynski has just won the first round of a new and particularly underhanded attack from the TMB.
We have been telling you about Dr. Burzynski’s lifesaving antineoplaston treatment, and the persecution he has received at the hand of the Texas Medical Board. This time the TMB filed a 200-page complaint against him, which focused on alleged “FDA violations”—i.e., FDA warning letters about some minor recordkeeping deficiencies in his recently approved phase 2 clinical trials and some promotional claims for the antineoplastons. With US politicians and the American media engaged in an increasingly acrimonious debate over the strategy guiding the latest US war in the Middle East, the United States Army has unveiled a new document entitled the Army Operating Concept (AOC), which provides a “vision of future armed conflict” that has the most ominous implications. It is the latest in a series of documents in which the Pentagon has elaborated the underlying strategy ofpreventive war that was unveiled in 1992—that is, the use of war as a means of destroying potential geopolitical and economic rivals before they acquire sufficient power to block American domination of the globe.
The document was formally released at this week’s Association of the United States Army (AUSA) conference, an annual event bringing together senior officers and Defense Department officials for a series of speeches and panel discussions, along with a giant trade show mounted by arms manufacturers to show off their latest weapons systems and pursue lucrative Pentagon contracts. Mark Zuckerberg, one of the co-founders of Facebook whose personal wealth is estimated at $32.4 billion, announced this morning that he and his wife, Priscilla Chan, are donating $25 million to help fight the battle against Ebola.

The September 2014 NSSF-adjusted National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) figure of1,024,272 is the second highest September on record for the 16-year-old system, even with a decrease of 1.0 percent compared to the September 2013 NSSF-adjusted NICS figure of 1,034,701. For comparison, the unadjusted September 2014 NICS figure of 1,447,485 reflects a 4.0 percent increase from the unadjusted NICS figure of 1,392,423 in September 2013. Eureka Springs, Arkansas, A modern view of the street where five bank robbers met up with the armed citizenry in 1922.
I found the following true story of community self-defense in a 1970 edition of A Fame Not Easily Forgotten that I picked up at the thrift store for $.98. This slim volume contains many stories of the community of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, including that of its one-time mayor and most prominent and colorful citizen named (and I kid you not) Festus Orestes Butt. But the excerpt I present below is an interesting anecdote of community defense. The increased use of eminent domain to transfer property to powerful political interests, the ramifications of the wars on terrorism and drugs, and the violation of the property rights of bondholders in the auto-bailout case have weakened the tradition of strong adherence to the rule of law in United States. We believe these factors have contributed to the sharp decline in the rating for the legal-system area.
