Lead tears the heart.

What was written in blood
Has been set up again.
The heart is a drum.
The drum has a snare.
The snare is in the blood. Continue reading “Blood and Lead. “The entire nation will burn.””

A couple long-time friends and readers brought this to my attention from 1994:

In a city where name recognition is synonymous with success, Ron Klain has made a virtue of being unknown. As Attorney General Janet Reno’s chief of staff, he is all but invisible to the public but recognized in Democratic circles as the man to have on your side in a political or legal fight. A rare mix of top-flight lawyer and savvy politician, Klain shepherded the nominations of Reno and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg through the Senate and steered the omnibus crime bill through the turbulent legislative process.   Continue reading “Well, well. I had forgotten about THAT. Ebola Czar Ron Klain was Janet Reno’s Chief of Staff at the time of Waco.”

As an intelligence operation, it must have seemed like pure genius: Recruit a Pakistani doctor to collect blood samples that could identify Osama bin Laden’s family, under cover of an ongoing vaccination program. But as an ethical matter, it was something else.

The CIA’s vaccination gambit put at risk something very precious — the integrity of public health programs in Pakistan and around the globe. It also added to the dangers facing nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in a world that’s increasingly hostile to U.S. aid organizations.   Continue reading “2012: A CIA gambit in Pakistan threatens a global vaccination program”

Update 5/18/2014: I have been using my $20 ADSB Dongle with a $35 Raspberry Pi computer in a standalone configuration to send military mode-s data to my Live Military Aircraft Mode-S Logger page. Not only does this provide the standard mode-s data as seen on other Mode-S sites, but also provides real-time altitude and signal strength graphs of military aircraft as they fly through my area. Check it out! This is Mode-S data sharing with more detailed info then other sharing sites.    Continue reading “Your Own $20 ADSB Aircraft Radar System”

At age 18, every American man gets a card in the mail from the federal government notifying him of the requirement to sign up for the Selective Service—commonly known as “the draft.” Women have always been excluded from this rite of passage, but New York lawyer Roy den Hollander is on a mission to change that.

Hollander, a self-described “anti-feminist” lawyer, is planning a class-action lawsuit to force the federal government to include women in mandatory draft registration.   Continue reading “Anti-Feminist Lawyer Plans Lawsuit to Force Women to Register for Draft”

The Obama administration has quietly scrapped plans to enact sweeping new federal quarantine regulations that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention touted four years ago as critical to protecting Americans from dangerous diseases spread by travelers. The regulations, proposed in 2005 during the Bush administration amid fears of avian flu, would have given the federal government additional powers to detain sick airline passengers and those exposed to certain diseases. They also would have expanded requirements for airlines to report ill passengers to the CDC and mandated that airlines collect and maintain contact information for fliers in case they later needed to be traced as part of an investigation into an outbreak.   Continue reading “Four Years Ago….Obama administration scraps quarantine regulations”

One test per year not related to a specific illness under Medicare? So much for preventive medicine.

In recent weeks we have been telling you about a new FDA proposal to increase its control over low-cost laboratory-developed tests—including locally performed custom diagnostics and tests for rare conditions. Tests like these are the future of medicine. People will soon be able to test for and spot cancers long before they manifest themselves using current methods. Testing can already help prevent diabetes, heart and blood vessel illness, prostate cancer, and other diseases.   Continue reading “Government Puts Doctors in Stranglehold over Medical Testing and Diagnostics”

ObamaCare was crafted to suit the largest insurance companies, and now your tax dollars are subsidizing them.

The House Oversight Committee has issued a report called “ObamaCare’s Taxpayer Bailout of Health Insurers and the White House’s Involvement to Increase Bailout Size.” The report states that ObamaCare contains $1 billion in bailouts in 2014 alone for insurance companies who offer coverage in the individual and small group market. The subsidies are set to expire in 2016.   Continue reading “Taxpayers Are Bailing Out the Insurance Companies—to the Tune of $1 Billion This Year Alone!”

Cancer pioneer Stanislaw Burzynski has just won the first round of a new and particularly underhanded attack from the TMB.

We have been telling you about Dr. Burzynski’s lifesaving antineoplaston treatment, and the persecution he has received at the hand of the Texas Medical Board. This time the TMB filed a 200-page complaint against him, which focused on alleged “FDA violations”—i.e., FDA warning letters about some minor recordkeeping deficiencies in his recently approved phase 2 clinical trials and some promotional claims for the antineoplastons. The TMB claimed that these technical violations of the federal statute were de facto violations of the state medical practice law.   Continue reading “Texas Medical Board as Out of Control as Ever”

With US politicians and the American media engaged in an increasingly acrimonious debate over the strategy guiding the latest US war in the Middle East, the United States Army has unveiled a new document entitled the Army Operating Concept (AOC), which provides a “vision of future armed conflict” that has the most ominous implications. It is the latest in a series of documents in which the Pentagon has elaborated the underlying strategy ofpreventive war that was unveiled in 1992—that is, the use of war as a means of destroying potential geopolitical and economic rivals before they acquire sufficient power to block American domination of the globe.

The document was formally released at this week’s Association of the United States Army (AUSA) conference, an annual event bringing together senior officers and Defense Department officials for a series of speeches and panel discussions, along with a giant trade show mounted by arms manufacturers to show off their latest weapons systems and pursue lucrative Pentagon contracts.   Continue reading “The Army Operating Concept (AOC): US Army Drafts Blueprint for World War III”

Mark Zuckerberg, one of the co-founders of Facebook whose personal wealth is estimated at $32.4 billion, announced this morning that he and his wife, Priscilla Chan, are donating $25 million to help fight the battle against Ebola.

In a Facebook post, Zuckerberg, 30, said “we need to get Ebola under control in the near term so that it doesn’t spread further and become a long-term global health crisis that we end up fighting for decades at large scale, like HIV or polio.”   Continue reading “Will Zuckerberg’s $25M Ebola Donation Spur More?”

Eureka Springs, Arkansas, A modern view of the street where five bank robbers met up with the armed citizenry in 1922.

I found the following true story of community self-defense in a 1970 edition of A Fame Not Easily Forgotten that I picked up at the thrift store for $.98. This slim volume contains many stories of the community of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, including that of its one-time mayor and most prominent and colorful citizen named (and I kid you not) Festus Orestes Butt. But the excerpt I present below is an interesting anecdote of community defense.   Continue reading ““Honor is due to all who participated in the shooting.” Community Defense in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, 27 September 1922.”

The increased use of eminent domain to transfer property to powerful political interests, the ramifications of the wars on terrorism and drugs, and the violation of the property rights of bondholders in the auto-bailout case have weakened the tradition of strong adherence to the rule of law in United States. We believe these factors have contributed to the sharp decline in the rating for the legal-system area.

To a large degree, the United States has experienced a significant move away from rule of law and toward a highly regulated, politicized, and heavily policed state.   Continue reading “New Report – The United States’ Sharp Drop in Economic Freedom Since 2000 Driven by “Decline in Rule of Law””
