Kim is desperate. His country is crumbling around him; his soldiers are eating each other; spring floods have destroyed most of his food crops and war is the only money maker he has.

The situation is a slow moving nightmare which reported began in 2011, when the situation was so bad, government functionaries were blackmailing food vendors and farmers for rice to feed the army.   Continue reading “Starving North Korean Army On Verge Of Revolt: Hungry Soldier Killed Colleague With Ax, Ate Flesh And Sold Rest”

Did you know that people in other countries can buy Fords and VW automobiles that get over 70 miles to the gallon.  Volkswagon Passad gets 78.5 miles per gallon and is sold only in Europe.  A Ford model sold only in Europe gets over 70 mpg.  Neither car is available in the US and that is because of government regulations that forbid them.  And Toyota has a very good non-hybrid plug-in electric car.  Ask yourself, who is it that is benefiting from this!   Continue reading “High Mileage Cars Forbidden for Sale in the US”

It all began innocently enough I suppose; back when we humans first began growing our own food. After harvest farmers would save their seeds for the next growing season; often hand picking the best and most vibrant looking seeds to ensure a bountiful crop.  Eventually a few farmers and naturalists observed naturally occurring plant hybrids and this gave them the idea to experiment with combining different species of plants themselves.  Then in 1900 Gregor Mendel’s genetic theory was used  to manipulate plant species in a process called “Classic Selection“- the cross breeding of plant DNA, to get the desired results.  The following year a fellow named John Francis Queeny founded a little chemical company in Creve Couer, Missouri, and named it Monsanto.   Continue reading “GMO? ~ Oh HELL No!”

The British conservatism has surrendered to technology. British forces are to be given a new standard issue handgun for the first time in more than 40 years. According to the BBC the Ministry of Defense has signed a £9m contract to provide the Armed Forces with more than 25,000 new side-arms and holsters from Austria’s Glock. It will replace the Browning 9 mm pistol which has been in service since 1967.The Glock 17 9 mm pistol is lighter than the Browning and can be fired faster, within a second or so.   Continue reading “New handgun for British troops.”

This is a recipe handed down to me by my mom. It’s been in my family since I was a kid (back when dirt was new). I’ve tweaked it slightly to my own satisfaction, but will also provide the original specs. I’ve yet to come across a store-bought cookie that equals them.

If there was any doubt that the military has new confidence in its forthcoming laser arsenal, the Navy’s top geeks want to outfit Marines with a laser cannon to shoot small drones out of the sky.

Specifically, the Office of Naval Research thinks that Marine air-ground task forces are too vulnerable to adversaries flying cheap, small spy drones overhead, like the four-pound Raven the Marines themselves used in Iraq. Its answer: outfit Marine ground vehicles with laser guns.   Continue reading “Navy Wants Lasers on Marines’ Trucks to Shoot Down Drones”

Over the weekend the secret service responded to anonymous tips that a man in an Ohio restaurant was making threats against president Obama.  Apparently the man was overheard saying that he was going to “take Obama out”.

What makes this story even more interesting is that this suspect claims to be the son of late president Dwight D. Eisenhower, and even has the paperwork to prove it, according to local police.   Continue reading “Secret Service Detains Son of Dwight D. Eisenhower for Alleged “Threats” Against Obama : Report”

It was a scene familiar to any nostalgia buff: all-night lines waiting for the banks (first in Ohio, then in Maryland) to open; pompous but mendacious assurances by the bankers that all is well and that the people should go home; a stubborn insistence by depositors to get their money out; and the consequent closing of the banks by government, while at the same time the banks were permitted to stay in existence and collect the debts due them by their borrowers.   Continue reading “Anatomy of the Bank Run”

Arms Trade Treaty SupportersAmmoLand – by Ted R. Bromund, Ph.D.

Washington, DC –(Ammoland.com)-  In New York, the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) conference is entering its final phase, and the ways in which the negotiations might fail are becoming clearer.

A large number of nations—mainly the Middle East but also Bangladesh, Cuba, North Korea, Venezuela, Zimbabwe, and others—are not going to get much of what they want from this treaty. That is a good thing. These nations want the treaty to:    Continue reading “The Arms Trade Treaty, Week Two: The Ways It Might Fail”
