The purpose of this post is to discuss the use of canteens and hydration bladders, to point out some advantages and disadvantages, and to make you think about how you plan to carry and use water.

What do I mean by canteens? For this post, I will consider an canteen any sort of solid water bottle. Anything from an actual military canteen to a sports hydration bottle, one of those solid Camelbak sports bottles that you sip from the top of with a straw going down inside, a plastic water-bottle that you are reusing (with a twist-off lid or one of those drinking caps), or anything similar. The key thing is that a canteen will sit in a pocket or pouch and be taken out, raised to your mouth, and drunk from.    Continue reading “Canteen Vs. Hydration Bladder”

Liberty Blitzkrieg – by Mike Krieger

The warning signs were all there. Long, long ago they were all right there. Reading this article from the New York Times, published when I was just five years old, brings forth emotions of frustration, disappointment and even a sense of resentment. Resentment that many of those that came before us knew about all of this and basically did nothing. While those were my initial reactions, those negative emotions have turned into a strong sense of resolve and purpose. Many of us that are faced with the challenge of changing this messed up world we live in had very little to do with its creation, but that’s ok. This is our destiny and it is our duty.   Continue reading “A Blockbuster Article on the Dangers of the NSA…From March 27, 1983”

Obama Behavior Team to “Nudge” U.S. Toward Government GoalsThe New American – by Alex Newman

In an effort to “nudge” Americans to support bigger and more intrusive government while changing behavior to suit the whims of the political class in Washington, D.C., the Obama administration is following the lead of U.K. authorities by building what the White House refers to as a “Behavioral Insights Team.” According to an official document about the scheme aimed at recruiting personnel, the controversial team will be charged with prodding the U.S. population to think and behave in ways that officials deem best on everything from “sustainability” to health and education.   Continue reading “Obama Behavior Team to “Nudge” U.S. Toward Government Goals”

A pair of Democratic lawmakers are proposing steep new taxes on handguns and ammunition, and tying the revenues to programs aimed at preventing gun violence.

Called the “Gun Violence Prevention and Safe Communities Act,” the bill sponsored by William Pascrell, D-N.J., and Danny Davis, D-Ill., would nearly double the current 11 percent tax on handguns, while raising the levy on bullets and cartridges from 11 percent to 50 percent.     Continue reading “Dem bill would trigger huge new taxes on guns, ammo”

A recent poll suggests Americans will consider the gun debate a pivotal point in the 2014 elections. So we wanted to explore how Americans kept the right to bear arms in the first place. As it turns out, grammar is the culprit.   Continue reading “Does A Comma Stand Between You And Loss Of Your Guns?”

senior Syrian official on Monday issued a first direct warning that if attacked, his country would retaliate against Israel. Khalaf Muftah, a senior Baath Party official who used to serve as Syria’s assistant information minister, said in a radio interview that Damascus would consider Israel “behind the [Western] aggression and [it] will therefore come under fire.”

“We have strategic weapons and we’re capable of responding,” he said. “Normally the strategic weapons are aimed at Israel.”   Continue reading “Syria, Iran issue first explicit warning to Israel if US attacks”

From George Orwell’s 1984 and Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World to the Wachowskis’ The Matrix, Stephen Spielberg’sMinority Report and most recently Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium, writers and filmmakers have used science fiction to both forecast the future while also holding up a mirror to the present. The best among these transcend what is largely escapist entertainment and engage their audiences in a critical dialogue about what happens when power, technology and militaristic governance converge.   Continue reading “Elysium: The Technological Side of the American Police State”

Beware of those who claim that the Constitution is a living instrument because they are seeking justification for its violation. They claim that it evolves or changes as the peoples’ wants or needs change. They will call it outmoded, old-fashioned, antiquated, archaic, etc., trying to convince you that the Founders could not have foreseen the peoples’ needs so long ago. These people will support Constitutional changes resulting from Amendments, Supreme Court decisions, Presidential Proclamations or Voter Referendums.   Continue reading “The Constitution is Not a Living Breathing Document to Be Changed: It Is The Supreme Law of the Land”

American Liberal Progressive CommunismMilitia News – by Richard J. “Sarge” Garwood

Cultures more refined than modern American culture see things through more patient eyes. Orientals see the world evolving through the “Thousand Year Plan” meaning the plan’s ultimate goals will be realized after a thousand years of hard work have passed. Native Americans believe the fruition of any idea planted comes after “Seven Generations”. The adage of “good things come to those who wait” is an axiom; not a theory.

Americans want everything now. They overlook what’s happening right under their noses. Karl Marx’s specific game plan has moved inexorably forward since the 1800s. Americans have ignored the ramifications of this in favor of a growing a more and more “beneficent state” supplying their ever increasing wants to the point certain Americans are social, economic and philosophical parasites.   Continue reading “The Ten Planks Of Communism”

It has become painfully clear that Barack holds an al a carte theory of American law—to be taken piece by piece, but not by whole. For example, he clearly does not considerthe Constitution binding, unless its’ mandates already fit into his plans.

For this reason it is inevitable that when Obama taught “constitutional law” as an unpublished, non-professor instructor,  he would have used the theory of evolving “living law.” (see Teaching Law, Testing Ideas, Obama Stood Slightly Apart) Therefore, when we observe Barack as making legal decisions off the cuff, he uses the style of lex animata, or the living law. In effect, an elected office holder becomes the very embodiment of what the Founders fought against—much to their grave-turning horror.   Continue reading “Obama’s Puerile Molestation of the Constitution is Gruesome & Exceptionally Dangerous”

Shenandoah – by John Galt

Several years ago a good friend of mine enlightened me about the true meaning of the “red” and “blue” lists regarding enemies of the state and disposal of those individuals or groups using whatever means the President, group of globalist leaders, or selected intelligence services deemed necessary. When Steve Quayle first told me about this, I paused, expressed my concerns about the validity, and then as I do with every friend or source verified what he said with a former friend of mine in the government.   Continue reading “The Red List for Assassinations and Purges Has Been Activated”

As the United States prepares another undeclared, unconstitutional, and unnecessary war against the nation of Syria, its last adventure into Libya is now imploding on a daily basis. When left wing globalist rags like Foreign Policy magazine recognize this fact, it is not rocket science to figure out that the crisis inside of Libya is far worse than advertised:   Continue reading “While Syria is the Focus, Another Arab Spring Obama Experiment in Libya is Collapsing”

SHTFplan Editor’s note: Our friend Selco at SHTF School will change everything you may think about your life in a post-collapse world. For many of us, the idea that the world around us may fall apart and lead to the worst that humanity has to offer is mostly theoretical. For Selco, it was a reality. He experienced a total grid-down collapse in war-torn Sarajevo during the 1990′s – and he lived to tell the tale. He has shared his knowledge with our community over the last few years, and in the article below he changes our perceptions once again. Just because we are making preparations – stocking food, or supplies or guns – means nothing if the mind is not prepared to comprehend the absolute horrors that may come.   Continue reading “Collapse Reality: “If I Had to Be an Animal, I Was an Animal. Last year, the United States Supreme Court ruled that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as Obamacare, was upheld to be constitutional as a tax. Though it’s been three years since Obamacare has been the law of the land, problems have arisen (we all knew they would), and costs have skyrocketed from their projections (we knew that too). As a result, some parts of Obamacare will be delayed by one year. However, it looks as if the Supreme Court may just get a second hearing on the unpopular, and in many of our opinions unconstitutional law.   Continue reading “New Obamacare Lawsuit May Reach Supreme Court & Deem Obama/IRS Actions Unconstitutional”

ObamaCare Will Lead to Insurance “Death Spiral,” Study SaysThe New American – by Michael Tennant

Is the health insurance market headed for a “death spiral” of increasing premiums, fewer beneficiaries, and less competition under ObamaCare? A recent study from the National Center for Public Policy Research answers that question in the affirmative.

The study, by healthcare policy analyst David Hogberg, finds that the individual mandate’s carrots and sticks will probably be insufficient to induce large numbers of currently uninsured “young invincibles” — healthy, childless 18- to 34-year-olds — to buy coverage. Yet these people are the ones who must enter the market en masseif the healthcare law’s mandates on insurers are not to overwhelm them with older, more sickly — and therefore much more costly — beneficiaries.   Continue reading “ObamaCare Will Lead to Insurance “Death Spiral,” Study Says”
