Banned Super Bowl Pro-Gun Ad Going Viral

Pro-gun ad too controversial for the Super BowlNewsmax – by Sandy Fitzgerald

gunmaker’s commercial that the National Football League’s rules prohibit from being broadcast during the Super Bowl is still going viral, and the ad’s creator says the company created the spot not only to promote the business, but to champion Second Amendment rights.

Daniel Defense, a manufacturer from Georgia, attempted to buy Super Bowl advertising time in several local media markets in November, but the ad was rejected because of NFL prohibitions against ads with “firearms, ammunition, or other weapons,” reports ABC News.

The NFL allows advertising from stores that sell firearms and ammunition, such as outdoor or camping stores, as long as the businesses sell other products and the ads don’t mention firearms, ammunition, or other weapons.

Daniel Defense Director of Marketing Jordan Hunter told ABC that the company did all it could to meet the NFL’s guidelines, and the advertisement does not show guns or alcohol.

“This was a branding thing for Daniel Defense definitely, but we wanted to create an ad that was a constitutional ad,” he said.

In the spot, an actor playing a Marine Corps veteran and young father is seen with his wife and baby while declaring, “My family’s safety is my highest priority. I am responsible for their protection and no one has the right to tell me how to defend them.”

The ad ends with a background voice saying, “Daniel Defense. Defending your nation, defending your home.”

NFL Vice President for Communications Brian McCarthy told ABC News that the NFL never saw or heard of the ad before news broke about it, but accused Daniel Defense of pushing the controversy to “gain exposure for this ad.”

Hunter, a former Marine, inspired the ad’s plot, and the actor chosen to play the husband was a Marine reservist.

“I made the commercial and it is based on real life,” Hunter said. “I served in the Marine Corps, I got out, I’ve got a daughter and I’ve got a family.”

The ad has gotten more than 100,000 hits on YouTube, giving Daniel Defense a national platform without it having to pay steep Super Bowl ad costs.

Hunter acknowledges that this past year has been a tough one for the gun industry, with emotions running raw after the Sandy Hook school shootings and other incidences of gun violence.

“We understand that some very real things have happened this year… people with mental health issues have done some very real things,” Hunter said.

  1. “The NFL allows advertising from stores that sell firearms and ammunition, such as outdoor or camping stores, as long as the businesses sell other products and the ads don’t mention firearms, ammunition, or other weapons.”

Oh of course! As long as we Communists tell you what you can and cannot show in the ad. What a crock of Communist shit!

I’m sure Romney’s Academy of Sports and Outdoors and the elite’s Walmart, which both sell guns and accessories will be advertised without a problem (in a whisper)….as long as they don’t show guns. SHH!!!!

Man, this Superbowl is becoming it’s own little propaganda war battle.

  2. And can anyone tell me why they chose a stadium that does not have a dome for the Superbowl when the rules always state that they must have a dome in case of bad weather? And why are they are doing it this year out of all times? So they can have an excuse to put up snipers and no fly zones and so everyone can see attack helicopters? Talk about one big unconstitutional, treasonous, training operation on U.S. soil.

  3. Well the commercial says that “I am responsible for their protection.”

Not the government. Red flag there on the Communist censors.

“And no one has the right to tell me how to defend them.”

    Uh-oh!! That’s a big Communist Government NO-NO!

Must submit yourself and your will to the totalitarian regime!

And we can’t be showing that rifle at the end of the commercial, even if it is just the company’s logo.

I can see why with all the military drills going on and government propaganda that it didn’t make the cut.

  4. Shame on the MSM censoring Daniel Defense while allowing pharmaceutical aka drug companies to promote their erectile dysfunction concoctions and female vaginal creams during what is known by most people as “family” time. We sit in awkward silence with our kids watching middle aged couples look longingly at the artificial Libido situations usually with a metaphor of tent or hot tub. There was a time when these impotent ads were only on the back pages of magazines or on TV after midnight. Keep up the effort Daniel Defense!

  5. SD,do not forget the gabby gifford ads for more background checks, and no spell check, will not show her respect by capitalizing her name.In all fairness will admit do not watch the stupid bowl.

  6. Since when is protecting your family so wrong? Why is it a horribe crime for a man to own a firearm to protect his wife and child? I supose you think thats what the police is for? Guess what, when its my family in danger, and i need to do somthing, i know a bullet travels alot faster than a police car. Why do people want to destroy our god given right to protect ourselves?

  7. BOYCOTT the NFL….Read the book titled “The Fix Is In” by Brian Touhy. This book demonstrates how sports is nothing more than a criminal enterprise, nothing organic about sports.

    1. There you go, BillyJoeBob; you hit the nail on the head. (and you must be from the south if you have more than one first name. Three of them puts you firmly in Mississippi) Boycott is the way to go.

Is there some reason anyone needs the NFL in their life? Instead of watching the super bowl, why don’t you go outside and play some football?

  8. It’s discrimination when you do it but it’s not discrimination when they
do it. But, once you go all around the circle, you come right back to
discrimination no matter how you look at it. Sue them for all the
money they don’t have a right to.
