Exactly what I was thinking today as I went about running my errands and hearing (panic) Ebola comments around me. Difficult to keep from getting into an argument with these people. No one is using critical thinking out there.

Argentinian opposition politicians have accused the country’s president, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, of being “completely out of touch with reality” after she gave a rambling televised address in which she claimed the US may be behind a plot to overthrow her government and possibly even assassinate her.
“If something should happen to me, don’t look to the Middle East, look to the North,” Fernández said during the address on Tuesday night, in which she alluded to an alleged plot against her by local bankers and businessmen “with foreign help”. WASHINGTON — Julia Pierson, the director of the Secret Service, is resigning in the wake of several security breaches.
Ms. Pierson offered her resignation on Wednesday during a meeting with Jeh C. Johnson, the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, the agency that oversees the Secret Service. The resignation came less than a day after lawmakers from both parties assailed Ms. Pierson’s leadership and said they feared for the lives of the president and others in the protection of the agency. It’s true. A case of Ebola has been confirmed in the United States. And this could just be the beginning, because it looks like there may already be a second case in Dallas right now.
Those of us in the preparedness community know exactly how serious this could be. We’ve read about pandemics and civil unrest and all sorts of Armageddon scenarios. With that much unsettling information in our mental reserves, the diagnosis of that man in Texas took on a different meaning to us than it did to the Americans who may have vaguely heard something about it while flipping channels on the television, between MTV and Dancing with the Stars. DALLAS (AP) — Authorities say five students who had contact with a man diagnosed with Ebola in Dallas are being monitored but are showing no symptoms of the disease.

The federal government will be providing the funding for legal assistance benefiting some of the tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors recently apprehended illegally entering the United Sates.
The Department of Health and Human Services announced Tuesday that over the coming two years, it will be distributing $9 million to two refugee organizations to offer legal help to illegal immigrant minors in deportation proceedings, according to reports. HOUSTON, Texas — The ambulance crew that transported America’s first Ebola patient to the hospital has been placed in quarantine as a precaution. The quarantine is a precaution to make certain no one else is exposed in the event the crew became infected during transportation of the patient. The city of Dallas said the crew took all safety precautions during the transport process.

Pampered politicians will not have to pay water charges on their second homes.
Ministers, Junior Ministers and the Attorney General will be exempt from the €125 payment on their second residence thanks to a law dating back to 1997.

What the heck is going on with the bomb threats today?
BEDFORD, N.H. (WHDH) –Police said nothing was found after searching two Bedford, New Hampshire schools that were forced to cancel classes due to a bomb threat.

BOSTON (Reuters) – A Rhode Island child hospitalized with Enterovirus D68 has died of a bacterial infection in what state public health officials described on Wednesday as an unusual and dangerous combination.
The child, a 10-year-old girl who was not named, died last week as a result of a staphylococcus aureus sepsis alongside the respiratory virus, the Rhode Island Department of Health said in a statement, calling it a “very rare combination that can cause very severe illness in children and adults.” Continue reading “Rhode Island child with Enterovirus dies after infection: officials”
BLOOMING GROVE, Pa. (AP) — The discovery of two powerful pipe bombs during a manhunt in the Pennsylvania woods indicates the fugitive wanted in an ambush on state troopers is stressed out and making mistakes, authorities said as they repeated a call for him to surrender.

Sandy Hook Elementary School in Monroe, Connecticut, was evacuated this morning because of a bomb threat.
A bomb threat was called into the school at 9:39 a.m., police said.

You have heard of the “No Fly List”, right? Well, now the Tories are pledging that if they win the next election in the UK they will establish a list of “extremists” that will have to have their social media posts “approved in advance by the police” before they post them. There are also plans to ban “extremists” from broadcasting and speaking at public events. The stated goal of these proposals is to crack down on terrorism, but in the process the civil liberties of the British people are going to be flushed down the toilet. And the American people need to pay close attention to what is going on in the UK, because whatever police state measures are implemented over there usually also get implemented over here eventually. For those that believe that we need to do “whatever it takes” to fight terrorism, there is a very important question that you need to ask yourself. Air travel between the United States and the countries of Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone should have been totally shut down except for absolutely essential personnel but it wasn’t. And now our nation may end up paying a great price as a result. On Tuesday, the CDC announced that there is a confirmed case of Ebola in Dallas, Texas. We know that this individual is a male and that he traveled by air from Liberia to Texas on September 19th. At that time, he was not exhibiting any symptoms. It is being reported that he started developing symptoms on September 24th and that he sought out treatment two days later. Incredibly, he was turned away and sent home.
