WASHINGTON, DC–(Marketwired – Oct 10, 2013) – Judicial Watch announced today that on October 4, 2013, it filed a Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) lawsuit with the Supreme Court of the New York requesting that the office of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg be ordered to produce all records of communications between the Office of the Mayor, the director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), and Vice President Joe Biden. The FOIL suit also requested that the mayor’s office be required to produce records of a January 9, 2013, meeting attended by MAIG representatives, Biden, and Attorney General Eric Holder. New York’s ban on outdoor smoking in state parks was blocked by a judge after a smokers’-rights group argued that the Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation exceeded its authority.

While in Vietnam from ’71’ to ’72 there was an Easter Offensive. Biggest one since Tet ’68. My job was to take requests from the field and alert airbases around Vietnam for specific information on tactical air strikes. Our information was usually classified Secret for specific targets. Strangely, a document with no cover sheet landed on my desk. I looked at it and it was a Top Secret CIA document which predicted that Laos, Cambodia and South Vietnam would all fall. They all did 3 years and how many hundreds of thousands of deaths later.
Activated during the LA Riots in ’92 I was surprised to see that our activation orders read OPERATION GARDEN PLOT. Not many people know this but active duty USMC from Camp Pendleton were put on the streets of Long Beach (there was major rioting there as well as other cities. Immigrant-rights activists said Friday morning they are blocking buses in Tucson, Ariz., filled with illegal immigrants who are on their way to be being sentenced to jail and then processed for deportation.
The activists said those on the buses are part of Operation Streamline, which is designed to give illegal immigrants jail sentences before they are deported, as a deterrent to keep them from trying to reenter the country in the future. Dozens of drivers of tractor-trailers and pickup trucks expressed their frustration over trucking industry regulations and the government shutdown Friday in a way that was guaranteed to get attention: They slowed traffic on Washington’s Beltway in a rolling protest.

Facing a shortage of supplies for lethal injections, US law enforcement officials have begun executing prisoners with an animal anesthetic that has not been approved at the federal level, with the first such execution coming this week.
European pharmacies, citing a moral issue with capital punishment, have stopped sending certain drugs to regions of the US that still carry out the death penalty, areas that include Ohio, Missouri, Texas, Georgia, Florida, and Arizona. NEW YORK (AP) — JPMorgan Chase, the biggest U.S. bank by assets, reported a rare quarterly loss after setting up a big reserve for legal expenses.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota farmer who discovered an oil spill the size of seven football fields while out harvesting wheat says that when he found it, crude was bubbling up out of the ground.
Farmer Steve Jensen says he smelled the crude for days before the tires on his combines were coated in it. At the apparent break in the Tesoro Corp.’s underground pipeline, the oil was “spewing and bubbling 6 inches high,” he said in a telephone interview Thursday.
