Chewbacca Actor Battles TSA Over Light Saber Cane

North Texas resident and “Star Wars” Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew had a dust-up with Transportation Security Administration agents in Denver when they attempted to confiscate his light saber-shaped cane.

Mayhew was returning to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport from an appearance at Denver ComicCon when TSA agents refused to let Chewie board his plane with his one-of-a-kind cane.

The actor, who is 7 feet, 2 inches tall, sat in a wheelchair at the airport as he pleaded with the agents and explained that he needed the cane to walk.

But it was only after the giant actor posted pics of the incident on his official Twitter account, @thewookieroars, that the agents relented and let him return to North Texas with his light saber cane.

Magic words to TSA are not “please” or “thank you”.. It’s “Twitter”.. cane released to go home.. pic.twitter.com/pb4r8g3DH7

Mayhew lives in Boyd, 35 miles northwest of Fort Worth. The tall Texas resident tweeted about his need for the cane.

Giant man need giant cane.. small cane snap like toothpick…. besides.. my light saber cane is just cool.. I would miss it..

After landing at DFW, Mayhew tweeted a thanks to Fort Worth-based American Airlines.

In Dallas. Thank you to @AmericanAir for checking on me. Problem was all @TSA. I’m a million-miler on American and they are a class act.

  1. it appears we really have an over abundance of not so intelligent beings taking up space at TSA. BTW, who is tsa supposed to be protecting? It appears from the photo these individuals are well paid as they appear not to be starving at all.

  2. Anyone notice how FAT TSA officers are? This shows a serious lack of self esteem so they are compelled to act out their aggressions on others whom they believe they have power over.

    1. How fat TSA officers are? Hell, have you noticed how fat the local police and sheriffs officers are? Or even State Troopers? Look at the Connecticut/Sandy Hoax State Trooper who was in charge.

THEY ALL are suffering from a serious lack of self-esteem. It’s not just the TSA.

  3. It’s incidents like these that make me wonder why the majority of Texans haven’t forcibly removed TSA while they had the chance a few years ago. These movie ushers with toy badges need to go. Permanently!

Come to Austin, TX. The TSA here are as evil and dumb as the rest of them. Hell, Austin airport even has their own “operational security” in addition to TSA that wear caps and blacksuits and who stand there waiting to beat the shit out of anyone who even looks at them the wrong way.

  4. A light saber could chop that plane into pieces, and if Yoda was working with him a 767 might make the jump to light speed, so these idiots had a lot to worry about.

    1. Hahaha!!! Nice one, JR. But I think Yoda would be moving the plane just with his jedi mind skills and throwing it wherever he wants, so yes they would have lots to worry about.

  5. “It’s not wise to upset a Wookie.”

“But sir, nobody worries about upsetting a TSA droid.”

“That’s because TSA droids are a bunch of Constitution trampling, low rent thugs with a collective intelligence of a dung beetle, and that’s an insult to the dung beetle since the poor bug at least serves a useful purpose.”

  6. They just WANTED the cane……

Has nothing to do with safety…..

They go through the bins of stuff they took all day
and go home with their catch. Don’t be fooled.

TSA has never caught any terrorist at an airport…
(not a REAL one, anyway… I wonder if there are any real ones…)
but they sure have assaulted and stolen from a lot of innocent people.

    1. Exactly my thought, too – They really, really wanted that cane. After confiscating it, they might have a little betting session with the money they stole out of passengers’ wallets and purses, to see who would get to take the cane home.
