Running out of options to keep his country afloat, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras ordered local governments to move their funds to the central bank.

With negotiations over bailout aid deadlocked, Tsipras needs the cash for salaries, pensions and a repayment to the International Monetary Fund. Greek bonds fell after the move, pushing three-year yields to the highest since the nation’s debt restructuring in 2012. The order was questioned by local officials and slammed by the leading opposition party.   Continue reading “Tsipras to Seize Public-Sector Funds to Keep Greece Afloat”

Jade Helm 15 is set to kick off in seven states this summer, sending Special Operations forces from all four main branches of the military onto civilian soil to conduct hostile take-over training – and civil-rights advocates are sounding the alarms.

This is how the military describes it:   Continue reading “Military ops on U.S. soil raise martial-law fears”

Since the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newton, Connecticut, Americans’ views of guns have gone through a shift to the point where record-high numbers of citizens now say firearms are necessary for personal protections.

Crime rate increases have in part fueled a 25-year-high, the Washington Examiner reported.   Continue reading “Major shift in Americans’ opinions on guns”

If Trey Gowdy manages to get to the bottom of the Benghazi scandal, we might see Hillary Clinton held responsible for the deaths of three in the terrorist attack on the U.S. embassy.

But, even if she manages to avoid being held accountable for their deaths, there’s a new scandal that’s being brought to the attention of the voting public that could have her found guilty with blood on her hands.

A 2008 donation to the Clinton foundation is now being called into question as the company who donated money was later granted a special privilege once Mrs. Clinton was nominated Secretary of State.   Continue reading “New Hillary Scandal – Should She Kiss Her White House Dreams Goodbye?”

With “tax day” now firmly behind us, it is expected that 2015 will show a record level of tax collections. This is a good thing, right? Maybe not.

Over the weekend, an economist friend of mine sent me an interesting piece of analysis discussing the record level of tax receipts as a percentage of the economy. This is something that I have written about in the past.   Continue reading “Tax Receipts Flash Economic Warning Sign”

WASHINGTON — U.S. Army Special Operations Command is pushing back against alarmist claims that an upcoming U.S. military exercise is a preparation for imposing martial law or subduing right-leaning groups and individuals.

Conspiracy theories about the exercise, known as JADE HELM 15, appeared online this week. Some commentators railing against the event referred to an online slide show allegedly created by USASOC, which outlined a special operations exercise slated to take place across multiple states, outside the confines of U.S. military bases. In the slide show, a map of the southwest region of the United States labels Texas and other territory as “hostile” or “insurgent pocket.” The document also refers to coordination with law enforcement agencies.   Continue reading “Army Special Operations Command pushes back against alarmist claims about upcoming exercise”

A new Illinois law is threatening parents who leave their children home alone if they are 13-years-old or younger. The new Illinois law states that parents who leave 13-year-olds home are guilty of neglect, and subject to arrest, as well as their children being taken away by police.

The new law states that “any minor under the age of 14 years whose parent or other person responsible for the minor’s welfare leaves the minor without supervision for an unreasonable period of time without regard for the mental or physical health, safety, or welfare of that minor” is now considered “neglected.”   Continue reading “New Illinois State Law Lets Police Take Teenagers Away From Parents If They Are Left Home Alone”

On April 17, Pew Research published an analysis on the shift in public opinion whereby a clear majority of Americans support gun rights over gun control for the first time in more 20 years.

Part of this analysis focuses on how the media has reported — and perhaps over-reported – crime in order to frighten Americans into supporting more government intervention via gun control. In so doing, the media inadvertently contributed to the success of the very pro-Second Amendment movement they hoped to topple.   Continue reading “PEW: Media Focused on Crime Backfires, Americans Resist Gun Control”

When Border Patrol agents checked a bus passenger’s papers at the Falfurrias checkpoint last week, they did a double-take.

WASHINGTON (AP) — In a stepped-up response to Iranian backing of Shiite rebels in Yemen, the Navy aircraft carrier, USS Theodore Roosevelt, is steaming toward the waters off Yemen to beef up security and join other American ships that are prepared to intercept any Iranian vessels carrying weapons to the Houthi rebels.

The deployment comes after a U.N. Security Council resolution approved last week imposed an arms embargo on the Iranian-backed Shiite Houthi rebels. The resolution passed in a 14-0 vote with Russia abstaining.   Continue reading “US warship heads to Yemeni waters; could block Iran weapons”
