An on line petition at change.org calls for the removal on the African American memorial on the South Carolina Statehouse Lawn.
Stating the reason for removal is that it is offensive to a greater number of South Carolinians than not. That the African American Monument depicts slave ships, mistreatment and words such as “segregation” and “Jim Crow” and that this invokes in the white community feelings of shame, humiliation and offense, serving as a constant reminder of the dark history of slavery.
Not surprisingly the main stream media doesn’t see the current 35,000 signatures as news worthy.
The African American Monument on the South Carolina State House grounds was erected in 2001 as part of a bi-partisan compromise reached in 2000 to move the Confederate battle flag from the State House dome and place it at the Confederate Soldier’s Monument.
Given the recent outcry to remove the battle flag from the State House grounds completely, the people of South Carolina view this as a reneging of the 2000 compromise. Therefore, the people of South Carolina implore the South Carolina State Legislature to pass legislation calling for the removal of the African American Monument from the State House grounds.
It has been stated that the battle flag must be removed due to it being offensive to the African American community, and invoking upon that community reminders of the dark history of slavery.
To the same point, the African American Monument depicts slave ships, mistreatment and words such as “segregation” and “Jim Crow”. This being the case, it is undeniable that this monument can and does serve to invoke in the white community feelings of shame, humiliation and offense, serving as a constant reminder of the dark history of slavery.
Therefore, we the people of South Carolina and citizens the world over implore the Legislature of South Carolina to order the removal of this monument from State Grounds.

Announcing an international takedown of a malware marketplace, federal officials say that the forum called Darkode has been dismantled and dozens of its members have been arrested. Darkode has been a marketplace to purchase and trade hacking tools since at least 2008.
Investigators say that while the forum’s existence was widely known, they hadn’t been able to penetrate it until recently. Darkode operated under password protections and required referrals to join. On Aug. 1, 2008, a small team of Israeli commandos entered the waters near Tartus, Syria, and shot and killed a Syrian general as he was holding a dinner party at his seaside weekend home. Muhammad Suleiman, a top aide to the Syrian president, was shot in the head and neck, and the Israeli military team escaped by sea.

An Alabama woman has filed a lawsuit against local police alleging a stun gun was used on her epileptic daughter three times while the teen was suffering from seizures at a concert in Rainbow City. Police also tased the girl’s mother, she alleges.
The 32-page lawsuit, filed earlier this month in US District Court, accuses at least five Rainbow City officers and three officers from neighboring Gadsden, who were allegedly handling security for a January 16 hip-hop concert, of excessive force, torture “and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment,” Alabama Media Group reported. LOS ANGELES (AP) — The police dashboard cameras that captured officers shooting Ricardo Diaz-Zeferino only depict part of the tragedy of his death in a Los Angeles suburb two years ago.
Video released by a federal judge Tuesday after news media organizations argued the public had a right to see the footage showed Diaz-Zeferino disobeying orders to keep his hands up, but with his palms open by his waist. The Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) seeks documents about the “Analytical Framework for Intelligence” which incorporates personal information from government agencies, commercial data brokers, and the Internet. The agency then uses secret, analytic tools to assign “risk assessments” to travelers, including U.S. citizens traveling solely within the United States.

A leaked document shows nearly one-third of the 847,000 veterans in the Department of Veteran Affairs’ backlog died while waiting for treatment, amounting to more than 238,000 patients, according to documents obtained by the Huffington Post.
The VA maintains that the number is so large because it has no mechanism to purge the list of dead applicants, and that some of the veterans may have died years ago. VA spokeswoman Walinda Westtold the Huffington Post that some people on the list may never have completed an application, or could be using other insurance. Democratic Sen. Richard Pan, a physician, according to the table published below, was the top recipient of a share of more than $2 million in campaign contributions by large pharmaceutical companies as the measure, SB 277, was being “debated” in the California legislature. Lisa Riley MD was found dead with a gunshot wound to her head. She was a former emergency room physician at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in the state of Georgia.
We are sorry to announce this news and that brings the total to 9 doctors missing or dead in less than a month. We have Dr. Bradstreet (who was also residing in Georgia but had previously been in Florida) who was found with a gunshot wound to his head. Dr. Bradstreet was an outspoken alternative MD well known in the Autism community. He’d helped many autistic children including his own child and was loved by many.
