On Tuesday, President Trump capped off months of effort in Congress to pass a War Powers Act challenge to the US involvement in the war in Yemen, vetoing the bill and claiming it was a “dangerous attempt to weaken my constitutional authorities.”

The bill, SJ Res 7, was a straightforward bill under the War Powers Act of 1973. The bill noted that Congress never authorized the US war in Yemen, and demanded an end to it. Colorado authorities are searching for a woman they say is “infatuated” with the 1999 Columbine High School shooting and made threats to schools in the Denver metropolitan area.

RIDGEWOOD, New Jersey (WABC) — A New Jersey police officer was accused of attempting to lure and sexually assault a 15-year-old girl.

New York City taxpayers spent a whopping $230 million to pay off 6,472 lawsuits settled against the NYPD in the last fiscal year, according to an annual report released Monday by Comptroller Scott Stringer’s office.

The amount reflects settlements made from July 2017 through June 2018, and marks a 32% decrease from the prior year, when the city paid out $335 million for lawsuits against the police department.

A months-long investigation into possible money laundering led to a number of arrests, the dismantling of a dark web ring that supplied counterfeit drugs throughout the country and the largest pill seizure in New Jersey history, authorities say.

The probe lead by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office resulted in the arrest of three people in New Jersey in connection to the ring that had about $2.3 million in the sales of counterfeit, albeit potent, Xanax, steroids and other drugs in the past year, prosecutors say. The millions of dollars laundered was allegedly through the use of cryptocurrency. A Depression-era mural depicting white children playing outside in the winter was removed from Percy Julian Middle School in Oak Park because school officials said it failed to represent the school’s diversity.
