The California State Board of Education has rejected a proposed ethnic studies curriculum for the state’s schools, saying it “falls short and needs to be substantially redesigned.”
The Jewish community is among several minority groups that have protested the draft. PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — At least six Philadelphia police officers were shot during an active firefight in Philadelphia’s Nicetown-Tioga section and rushed to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon, the president of the Fraternal Order of Police said. Another officer suffered a non-shooting injury during the incident. An Ohio teenager has been arrested for threatening mass violence online, targeting federal agents and Planned Parenthood, court documents said.

While universal background checks are pushed as a response to the El Paso and Dayton shooting attacks, it should be remembered that such checks are unenforceable without a gun registry.
In other words, once such checks are in place, it is only a matter of time before lawmakers — in one party or the other — suggest a loose registration scheme. They will most likely do this in the days after the first mass public attack that occurs once universal background checks are the law of the land. They are being flooded with pregnant women to gain US citizenship for their children through automatic birthright citizenship if they are born on US soil. Relatives also can obtain citizenship through chain migration. US citizenship includes voting, a US passport, generous welfare benefits, college financial aid, and much more. Farmers facing record bankruptcies and collapsing incomes due to President Donald Trump’s escalating trade war with China were not amused by U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue’s joke about their economic pain during an event in Minnesota last week.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) restated his support for red-flag gun laws Monday, despite unease or opposition from conservatives and gun owners who fear the laws would violate their Second, Fourth, and 14th Amendment rights.
After mass murders in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, earlier this month, some Republican lawmakers and President Donald Trump have expressed openness to more stringent background checks for gun purchases, as well as red-flag laws that allow police or family members to petition courts to order the seizure of guns from a person deemed to be a danger to others. Police in San Antonio arrested a man early Tuesday morning in connection with gunshots fired through the windows of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in the city, according to the agency.
Local law enforcement responded around 3 a.m. CT Tuesday to shots fired at the ICE field office located north of Interstate 410 near Brookhaven Drive, the FBI confirmed in a statement provided to the Washington Examiner. The two staff members who were guarding the jail unit where Jeffrey Epstein apparently killed himself fell asleep and failed to check on him for about three hours, then falsified records to cover up their mistake, according to several law enforcement and prison officials with knowledge of the matter. KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Kansas City, Kansas police shot and killed a man they say was heavily armed Tuesday morning and shot at them. Police say the gunman also told a hotel manager he killed his wife and was headed to Legends Outlets with a military-style rifle.

An off-duty New York Police Department (NYPD) officer reportedly killed himself in Yonkers, New York, early Tuesday morning.

Update: The warden of the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) where Jeffrey Epstein died has been temporarily reassigned to the Bureau’s Northeast Regional Office by Attorney General William Barr, according to a Tuesday statement by the Justice Department. Meanwhile, two prison employees who had been assigned to Epstein’s unit have been placed on administrative leave pending ongoing investigations, according to CNBC.
