In last week’s memorial service for George Floyd, the Rev. Al Sharpton noted that the recent demonstrations against abusive policing were caused not just by Floyd’s death after a white officer kneeled on his throat. Instead, it was the last straw after centuries of oppression. Mr. Sharpton noted, “Because ever since 401 years ago, the reason we could never be who we wanted and dreamed of being is you kept your knee on our neck.” Continue reading “Stone Mountain and other monuments to the Confederacy should be wiped clean”

Body camera footage obtained Sunday shows a New Mexico police officer telling a man he’s going to “choke you out” before allegedly causing his death with what authorities described as a “vascular neck restraint.”

The officer, Christopher Smelser, was charged Friday with involuntary manslaughter in the Feb. 29 death of Antonio Valenzuela. On the same day, the Las Cruces Police Department filed a letter of intent to fire Smelser. Need to Know – by Spiro Skouras

Attorney Alan Dershowitz says we have no Constitutional protection against being forcibly vaccinated because no one has a right to spread a deadly disease. This issue was decided by the US Supreme Court  long ago in Jacobson vs. Massachusetts, in which the Court said the state has an obligation to use force, if necessary, to protect the lives of its citizens against the threat of a deadly disease. [This is a proper position, because the defense of life is one of the few proper functions of a just state. That is why we warn our activist friends not to overdo their claim that shutdowns and forced vaccines violate their constitutional rights. If their lawsuits ever get into the courts, they will lose. Mercola – by Dr. Joseph Mercola

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is the biggest funder of vaccines in the entire world and, according to Gates, its COVID-19 vaccination effort “dwarfs anything we’ve ever worked on before.”1 Indeed, Gates push for mandatory COVID-19 vaccination — and investment in those vaccines — is historically unprecedented. Unz Review – by Philip Giraldi

The killing of black man George Floyd by white Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has produced the highest level of national unrest seen in the United States since the 1960s. Tens of thousands of protesters are demonstrating against racism and perceived police brutality. As it also comes at a time of coronavirus pandemic and record unemployment, it has the potential to change the U.S. in fundamental ways. The core issue is that many on the left, as well as some on the right, see America’s police as something like an “occupying force,” increasingly self-serving enemies of the people rather than careful protectors of the taxpayers’ lives and property.

The longest economic expansion in American history is officially over. The National Bureau of Economic Research declared Monday that the recession began in February.

The economy collapsed so rapidly that NBER wasted no time in announcing a recession, a stark contrast to previous downturns when the body took upwards of a year to declare what most people already knew. This was the fastest that NBER has declared any recession since the group began formal announcements in 1979. Continue reading “It’s official: The recession began in February”

Decatur, AL — On the night of March 15, 2020, Kevin Penn, 47, owner of Star Spirits & Beverages in Decatur, Al. was robbed. So, he did what society tells him to do — he called 9-1-1. Unfortunately for Mr. Penn, however, like so many calls before his, asking police for help was the worst decision he could’ve made because when cops showed up, they broke his jaw, knocked out several teeth, and arrested him. In a letter sent by University of California-Los Angeles faculty members to the school’s chancellor and executive vice chancellor, the staff requests that UCLA take steps towards divesting from the Los Angeles Police Department and other policing forces.
