HOUSTON (AP) — A former Houston police officer has pleaded guilty to federal charges in connection with a 2019 drug raid that killed both homeowners.

Meat shortage averted?
JBS SA, the world’s largest meat producer, announced: “they are on schedule to resume production at all of their facilities on Thursday.”

WASHINGTON — The Biden administration on Tuesday suspended oil and gas leases in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, reversing a drilling program approved by the Trump administration and reviving a political fight over a remote region that is home to polar bears and other wildlife — and a rich reserve of oil.
The order by Interior Secretary Deb Haaland follows a temporary moratorium on oil and gas lease activities imposed by President Joe Biden on his first day in office. Biden’s Jan. 20 executive order suggested a new environmental review was needed to address possible legal flaws in a drilling program approved by the Trump administration under a 2017 law enacted by Congress. The head of Qantas Airways Ltd. revealed on Monday his company would give away the largest business incentives for fully vaccinated passengers in an attempt to speed up the country’s slow vaccination rollout, a published report said.
Chief Executive Officer Alan Joyce said in addition to previously announced air miles, flight vouchers and loyalty program status credits for vaccinated customers, the company would offer 10 “mega prizes,” providing unlimited flights for a year for one family of four on both Qantas and its low-cost carrier Jetstar, Bloomberg reported. Brewer Anheuser-Busch announced on Wednesday that it is teaming up with the White House to offer its ‘biggest beer giveaway ever’ if 70 percent of American adults have had at least one vaccine by July 4 but the offer has a catch: only 200,000 people will reap the benefits of free booze.
The free beer is part of a ‘month of action’ that President Joe Biden is announcing to get more shots into arms before the July 4 holiday – which he has previously hoped would be the celebration of the ‘independence from COVID’. The Chinese government’s mouthpiece newspaper has launched a blistering attack on the United States threatening it with a “high intensity showdown” possibly involving nuclear weapons.

Laura and her sisters made the final arrangements for her mom yesterday.
This morning, I received a call informing me that my sister’s son died of a heart attack last night at the age of 36. He had taken the Covid shot recently in order to keep his job, but I’m sure that had nothing to do with it. These mother f-kers have killed my family now.
My sister is in South Carolina and her son lived in Texas, so me and my siblings have a lot to work out.

A ransomware attack on the Steamship Authority of Massachusetts hampered operations Wednesday morning.

Two foster kids—aged 12 and 14—allegedly broke into a Florida home late Tuesday, found a huge stash of firearms, then used the guns in a 30-minute shootout with a team of sheriff’s deputies. According to WKMG, the incident happened at a home in Volusia County where the owner had left behind an AK-47, a pump shotgun, a handgun, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. The US could be hit with beef shortages and price rises after the world’s largest meat producer was forced to close all of its plants due to a cyber attack which the White House has blamed on Russian hackers.
JBS – which supplies 20 per cent of all beef and pork in the US – warned the Memorial Day weekend hack could disrupt its supply chains and increase prices up up to 30 per cent. Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration for 34 counties along or near the Lone Star State’s border with Mexico Tuesday, claiming that President Biden’s immigration policies had allowed in a flood of drugs and gang members.

A notorious Russia-linked hacking group is behind the cyberattack against JBS SA, according to four people familiar with the assault who were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter. The cyber gang goes by the name REvil or Sodinokibi.
While it’s unclear if all of REvil’s hackers operate in Russia, the group’s public face, a user on the dark web cyber-crime forum XSS who goes by the name “Unknown,” exclusively publishes in Russian. REvil typically uses a darkweb blog called “Happy Blog” to name victims when they decline to engage in ransom negotiations. REvil has yet to post a blog item dedicated to JBS.
