WASHINGTON — Hackers working on behalf of the Chinese government broke into the computer networks of at least six state governments in the United States in the last year, according to a report released Tuesday by a private cybersecurity firm.
The report from Mandiant does not identify the compromised states or offer a motive for the intrusions, which began last May. But the Chinese group believed responsible for the breaches, APT41, is known to launch hacking operations both for old-fashioned espionage purposes and for financial gain. ANNAPOLIS, Md. — After Gov. Larry Hogan (R) announced working with lawmakers on emergency legislation to end the gas tax in Maryland amid global uncertainty, top leaders in the General Assembly agreed to offer a gas tax holiday for one month.
The tax break could start within the next coming days as the average price of gas in Maryland reaches $4.30 as of Thursday, according to AAA.

In order to prevent another plandemic, the World Health Organization (WHO) wants to create an international “pandemic treaty” that would restrict and legally bind its 194 member nations to medical martial law.
The United States would need to give up its national sovereignty under the plan, including all civil and health rights. Every other country that is part of the United Nations would be expected to do the same (if they have not already). The World Health Organization told Reuters on Thursday that it advised the Ukrainian Health Ministry to destroy “high-threat pathogens” held in labs around the time Russia invaded Ukraine.
“As part of this work, WHO has strongly recommended to the Ministry of Health in Ukraine and other responsible bodies to destroy high-threat pathogens to prevent any potential spills,” the WHO said in response to questions about its work with Ukraine before and during Russia’s invasion. Indian news agency Asian News International reports the Indian military accidentally fired an unarmed missile into Pakistan, calling the incident “deeply regrettable.” The defense ministry said the “accidental firing” was due to a “technical malfunction.”
