A Marine Corps Scout Sniper who battled his senior leadership in a public legal battle was found dead in his home Wednesday night.

Retired Cpl. Robert Richards was 28 years old and was found dead inside his home in Jacksonville, North Carolina.

A Marine Corps combat veteran who endured a long, public legal battle with the service’s senior leadership was found dead Wednesday night. According to his attorney, an autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of death, but they are ruling out a self-inflicted suicide.

Richards was a talented scout sniper with many tours to Afghanistan notched on his belt. In 2010 he was severely wounded in combat and was praised by his peers and superiors for his combat prowess and leadership ability. He was then hand-picked to serve as a scout sniper leader for 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines during his 2011 deployment to Afghanistan.

On that tour Richards and three Marines filmed a video of themselves urinating of the dead bodies of Taliban members who killed, desecrated and dismembered other Marines. The video was leaked in 2012 and went viral causing international fallout.  The prosecution went stale when allegations that the U.S. Marine Corps Commandant , General Amos and his legal advisers manipulated the justice process in order to guarantee the Marines were punished severely.

Richards is going to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. More about his legal battle can be found on his page http://www.defendsgtrichards.com/

  1. Suicide has been ruled out. At least they didn’t say he died from 6 self-inflicted gunshots to the back of the head! I’m certain we’ll never really know what happened.

  2. It will be found to be an unfortunate case of collateral damage or some other lie to cover up what really did happen. These types of investigations are incapable of telling the truth!

  3. a Sniper with his qualifications and abilities .. Fear of him is what got him killed

He more then likely had skills to be able to take anyone out at close to a mile

he didnt suicide he was more than likely murdered , because who feared him , didnt want to keep looking over their shoulders and didnt have the ability to see over a mile away to know if their head was in his cross hairs

chances are it was a Government deal, im surprised he wasnt set up first..or maybe he was
either way WE will never know the truth

careful with your skill set and who you trust

  4. No pity for govt assassins. If he truly worked for America and not his zio-slave master he would have had targets much closer to home. Yes, he was brainwashed into believing his duty was patriotic, but in the end he probably would have trained his weapon on us as well. “Only following orders” as the saying goes…

    1. Looks like this Marine may have realized too late who his real enemy was and failed to take the necessary preemptive action. This is the kind of thing that happens when you get brainwashed by your real enemy and work for a while for them doing things that Karma is going to call you into account for doing. His biggest failure may have been not taking out some of his real enemies before they took him out. Maybe others should take note and not be so indecisive against those who deserve no quarter, for they give none themselves.
