NEW YORK (AP) — Authorities say an off-duty New York City police officer fatally shot a man after being attacked during a road rage incident.

It happened early Monday morning in Brooklyn.

Police said the officer was driving his personal vehicle in the East New York neighborhood when he was involved in a traffic dispute with a 37-year-old man in another car.

They say when both cars stopped at a red light the man exited his car and punched the officer repeatedly through an open window.

Police say the officer pulled out his service weapon and shot the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The officer was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

Police haven’t identified the officer or the other motorist. They say the incident remains under investigation.

  1. It sounds reasonable, but, why didn’t the off duty policy enforcer role up the window or retreat to the other side of the front seat to get out of reach?

  2. Maybe there were other options the off duty uniformed thug could of used. Maybe he could of just flashed his badge. But at any rate, he will be found justified and “hero” cop will e given a promotion and metal. Since 9/11 cops have murdered more people then 9/11 ever did. In fact, cops murder more people on US soil then terrorists every year. Who are the real terrorists?
