Old Glory and UC Irvine collide

American Flag in the SunCold Dead Hands – by Patrick James

Political Correctness has taken its toll on many Americans as our current Administration continues to tout the benefits of dividing a Nation through cultural diversification, but enough is enough.  I fail to understand how a “public” university that was built off the backs of the American people could possibly be ignorant enough to even think of banning the American flag?  I don’t care that UC Irvine may be one of the most “liberal” universities in the Nation.  I don’t care if the students think they should have a say in it. The faculty and alumni should be furious over this decision, and blatantly tell them in no uncertain terms; “IT AIN’T HAPPENING HERE”

The Associated Students of University of California (ASUCI) passed a resolution March 3rd that would remove the American flag along with every other flag, from the lobby of a complex housing the offices fo the student government in an attempt at making their school more “culturally inclusive”.

“Designing a culturally inclusive space aims to remove barriers that create undue effort and separation by planning and designing spaces that enable everyone to participate equally and confidentially,” read the resolution authored by Matthew Guevara.

“The American flag has been flown in instances of colonialism and imperialism,” he bemoaned. “Flags not only serve as symbols of patriotism or weapons for nationalism, but also construct cultural mythologies and narratives that in turn charge nationalistic sentiments.” ~ Matthew Guevara

Where does this “jack nut” get these ideas?  Oh yeah, our illustrious “Commander-in-Cheif, that’s where.  Does he have any clue as to how UCI gets their funding? In 2012-13, extramural funding – money coming from outside sources, including federal and state agencies, industry contracts and private foundations – in support of UCI research exceeded $300 million. Does this guy really think this will help their fund raising efforts?  Maybe raising their tuition will help in deferring the monies this move will cost the University.  And all the students can thank the soon to be “infamous” UC 6 for the higher costs of education.

“Let me break down the vote for you,” Chris Starnes from FoxNews.com says; “Six unAmerican students, four patriots and two individuals who could have a career in House Republican leadership.” voted on this.

I am so tired of these “pompous” entitlement cretins whining about “cultural diversification” that I want to puke. This is the HOME of the RED, WHITE AND BLUE.  People throughout history have bled for that flag. Died for your right to voice your opinions. You have NO right to disrespect that legacy by removing OLD GLORY from the walls of your school.  I hope those that voted for this decision have a hole deep enough to crawl into.  It seems there might be hope for the university yet, as some of the more patriotic students have voiced their disapproval of this move, or maybe it’s the administration who knows it will directly effect their earning potential.  Either way, the Executive Board of the Student Government Association is meeting this weekend to talk about vetoing this decision. As for my impression, I think the six students who voted for this deserve a “Slap-e-ducation” in the highest degree of Slap-e-ducations! They need to be slapped so hard their parents (who didn’t raise them right) feel it. They need to have a Patriotic readjustment of the greatest magnitude.

  1. Well it’s a good thing that we have absolutely no need to keep UC Irvine in this country anyway.

They can move their entire staff to Israel, and dumb-down the college students there instead.

  2. Although, I feel the flag has been tarnished by the acts of unscrupulous men in power in this country, many of my friends and family have been buried under that flag and it sickens me to see what “diversity” has done to the fabric of this nation.
