TODAY in New York City a legal battle for the integrity of the Grand Jury process and the First Amendment Right to Petition for Redress is being waged. On Friday night March 20, 2020 Lawyers’ Committee Litigation Director, Mick Harrison, and his co-counsel, Lawyers’ Committee Board Director John O’Kelly, filed an historic 4 count First Amended Complaint in the Southern District of New York against the United States Attorney for the Southern District, Geoffrey Berman, the Department of Justice, and the United States Attorney General, William Barr, demanding relief from the Federal Courts concerning the Petition from the Lawyers’ Committee to the United States Attorney to present to a Grand Jury evidence of federal crimes involving the use of explosive and incendiaries at the World Trade Center on 9/11. TO DATE, 19 years after the fact no Grand Jury criminal investigation concerning the destruction of the World Trade Center Towers on 9/11 has been convened. Rethink Mental Illness

The Mental Health Act must continue to function effectively throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, in order to ensure the safety, care, and treatment of people severely affected by mental illness. Emergency legislation has been introduced to Parliament which includes temporary measures to change the Mental Health Act. This is because the government is concerned that Covid-19 will reduce the number of mental health professionals available to help people whose mental health places them at risk. March 23 (Reuters) – Former organizers for Michael Bloomberg’s unsuccessful presidential bid sued the billionaire’s campaign on Monday, saying he laid them off amid the global coronavirus pandemic after promising pay and benefits through the November election.

Employees resigned from good jobs to take positions with Bloomberg’s campaign, and they now face unemployment and the loss of their health insurance in the midst of the spreading virus, field organizers Alexis Sklair, Sterling Rettke and Nathaniel Brown said in their complaint, one of two proposed class action lawsuits potentially representing thousands of workers. Kate Brown is a class C misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail, a fine of up to $1,250 or both, but police and sheriffs’ officials across the state said they’ll work first to tell people about the new coronavirus restrictions before cracking down.
