A humungous Earth-like planet found by US astronomers has changed the perception of planet formation. A rocky world found by Kepler space observatory should by rights have become a giant ball of gas, but has remained a planet for billions of years.

The newly discovered Kepler-10c planet has been dubbed ‘Mega-Earth’ thanks to its diameter of 29,000 kilometers and an estimated weight 17 times greater than Earth, which has a diameter of 12,742 kilometers. President Obama has announced a plan to invest $1 billion in stepping up its military presence in Eastern Europe amid the Ukrainian crisis. The White House will send more troops and equipment to the region to “reaffirm” its commitment to NATO allies.

Speaking at a news conference in Warsaw, Obama said America was stepping up its partnership with countries in Eastern Europe with a view to bolstering security. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu strongly criticized the Obama administration for pledging to work with the new Palestinian unity government on Tuesday, saying he is “deeply troubled” by the decision.

A new analysis suggests that more fatalities than originally reported may have resulted from faulty ignition switches used by General Motors in millions of cars sold during the last decade.

A United Nations human rights body has criticized the Tel Aviv regime for torturing Palestinian children, saying the Israeli military frequently uses them as human shields in its operations.

The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child said on Thursday Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank and blockaded Gaza Strip are normally not allowed to have their birth registered, and are denied access to health care, decent schooling as well as safe drinking water. 

“Palestinian children arrested by (Israeli) military and police are systematically subject to degrading treatment, and often to acts of torture, are interrogated in Hebrew, a language they did not understand, and sign confessions in Hebrew in order to be released,” it said in a report. The story of the Clark County, Nevada cattle-ranchers and their eviction by the federal government in order to protect the Mojave desert tortoise is a classic tale of the federal government’s insidious efforts to target those out of favor with its leftist agenda.

The tale began with the 1989 decision by the federal government to declare the Mojave desert tortoise an endangered species. At the time, there were 50 cattle-ranching families   in Nevada’s Clark County. The federal government asserted that livestock grazing destroyed desert tortoise populations, largely because cattle ate the grasses and spring growth of cacti, which the tortoises also ate. It doesn’t matter if the guy was justified or not in not supporting the war. By walking off the base, he caused the death of numerous American Soldiers. He knew what would happen when he left. He knew that they would never stop looking for him. He knowingly caused the death of his fellow troops. He is no different than the government that sent him there. There are other ways to go about not participating in a war.
