Hundreds of thousands of Americans who purchase their own health insurance have received cancellation notices since August because the plans do not meet Obamacare’s requirements.
The number of cancellation notices greatly exceed the number of Obamacare enrollees.
Insurance carrier Florida Blue sent out 300,000 cancellation notices, or 80 percent of the entire state’s individual coverage policies, Kaiser Health News reports. California’s Kaiser Permanente canceled 160,000 plans — half of its insurance plans in the state — while Blue Shield of California sent 119,000 notices in mid-September alone. The average cost of each U.S. troop in Afghanistan will nearly double in the last year of the war to $2.1 million, according to a new analysis of the Pentagon’s budget.
For the past five years, from fiscal 2008 through 2013, the average troop cost had held steady at roughly $1.3. million. But the Pentagon’s 2014 war budget would dramatically increase that figure. The added cost, argue Defense Department officials, is a reflection of the price of sending troops and equipment back home in the drawdown. An extensive new research report explains how the Koch brothers’ business operation and their political operation are actually mutually reinforcing sides of one single operation. The report, by the International Forum on Globalization, an anti-globalization think tank, finds:
Page 2: The Kochs own 2 million acres in Alberta’s tar sands land (in addition to their 25% ownership of the XL if it gets built) and would therefore increase their net worth by around $100 billion if the XL gets built (which would make the world’s dirtiest oil cost-competitive to sell). Washington DC – -(Ammoland.com)- In their non-stop push for more gun control, former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly have presented Congress with a letter referencing “16 more mass shootings” since the heinous crime at Sandy Hook Elementary on December 14, 2012.
They do not list the supposed 16 mass shootings in their letter, which was published online by Politico, but they do mention the Tucson shooting from January 2011, the Aurora movie theater shooting from July 2012, and the Sikh Temple attack in August 2012. All three of these crimes occurred well before, not after, the shooting at Sandy Hook. Continue reading “Giffords, Kelly Claim ’16 More Mass Shootings’ Since Sandy Hook – Did We Miss Something?”

Some pension plans have overpaid retirees for years — now they’re demanding their money back.

Pirates attacked an oil supply vessel off the Nigerian coast and kidnapped the captain and chief engineer, both U.S. citizens, an American defense official and security sources said on Thursday.
Pirate attacks off Nigeria’s coast have jumped by a third this year as ships passing through West Africa’s Gulf of Guinea, a major commodities route, have come under threat from gangs wanting to snatch cargoes and crews. Continue reading “Pirates kidnap two U.S. sailors off Nigerian coast -sources”
Earlier this week we learned of NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s $1.1 million anti-gun advertisement buy for Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Terry McAuiliffe. Bloomberg funneled the money into Virginia through his PAC, USA Independence and advertisements have been running on radio and television since Tuesday. One television ad in particular targets the “gun show loophole” and states in a voiceover, “The gun show loophole. It means anyone can buy a gun without a background check.” The ad shows photos of mass murders Seung-Hui Cho (Virginia Tech), Adam Lanza (Sandy Hook), Aaron Alexis (Navy Yard) and James Holmes (Aurora Colorado theater) while implying these killers purchased their guns through this so-called “loophole.” Continue reading “Guess Who’s Lying About the ‘Gun Show Loophole’ in Virginia?”

Oh, the hilarity that is the phrase “criminal justice system.” Talk to any defense attorney and they’ll tell you how the deck is stacked against defendants and defense lawyers. The ideal of “innocent until proven guilty” has become little more than a disclaimer tacked onto cop-centered reality shows. Defendants are guilty until the jury is somehow tricked by the defense into handing down a “not guilty” verdict. A lot of effort goes towards dissuading defendants from even making it this far, as prosecutors will present worst-case scenarios comprised of every violation conceivable in order to get an agreement to plead guilty to a lesser charge. A gunman shot several people near a U.S. Navy base in Millington, Tenn., authorities say.
Fox13 reports that an employee of the base was relieved of duty today and is suspected of shooting at random people after going to his car. I’m going to use a couple of passages from the Bible (the original set of moral standards for our Western civilization), followed by an examination of both Bitcoin and cartel money, to see how they hold up in comparison.
As for my use of the term “cartel money,” it’s the best short description I know for the dollars, euros, yen (and so on) that we use in our daily commerce. They are produced by secretive and monopolistic groups of private banks. That rather precisely matches the definition of cartel. Continue reading “Is Bitcoin More Dangerous than “Cartel Money”?”

RUSH: For those of us who take as long as we can to pay our taxes, October 15th was the extension filing date for 2012, and I dutifully was in there. My accountant, who is almost afraid to be my accountant because he thinks he’s gonna get targeted, too, just ’cause his name’s on my return, he said, “Look, you may not know this, but you keep talking about these Obamacare fines if you don’t buy a policy. Do you know that under the law –” and I had to go look it up. Not that I didn’t believe him, but he just never gets political with me. He stays over there. (interruption) No, no. He’s not lib. It’s a professional relationship. Continue reading “Opt-Out Obamacare Penalty Can’t Be Enforced — Unless You Get a Tax Refund”
